....Or something wrong with my exhaust???

Driving tonight in the FRP went from Loud to STUPIDLY loud and bassy - I have a stainless Milltek and Decat but OEM Mild steel manifold

If this 'went' would it make a truck v8 noise?

The popping and banging has gone from machine gun to Cannon too

Sounds like it to me.

Mine went about 2 years ago and sounded the way you descibe it. My mechanic could poke hole in it with his finger after took it off.

I have a fiesta and it does this until it's warmed up and then it runs ok.. sounds like a tank at low speeds when cold, I was told there was a hole developing in the exhaust manifold, do you reckon this is similar? Also why would it behave when warm?

The exhaust manifold will have a crack in it which closes up as the temperature increases.

Well, I'll run it to the garage Monday and see... Sigh....

What manifold options are there?

OEM, Milltek, Piper, Protec? Currently decatted with a Milltek exhaust....

unless you have actually found a hole in your manifold you are assuming the worst! take a torch and have a look smile.gif
it could be as simple as the 'O' ring that has blown. This will make a huge noise and also loose all pops and bangs and your MPG will fall through the floor
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Yeah I've looked but can't see anything obvious - Still have pops and bangs but they're like a cannon now rather than the rat a tat tat of before....

If you can smell exhaust fumes/unburnt fuel from under the bonnet it very likely to be the manifold...cracks are very common on FRPs.
