Engine Swap

"And painted Jewel Green with an engine from a different Ford"
I know Tony from PS can do the 4wd cossie job, but that involved major surgery to the floor pan, interior, bulkhead, well.... everything. What about other ford engines, especially the FWD units.... what with the current shortage of replacement engines.
Some suggestions....
FRS
Mondeo RS 2.5 V6 Zetec 24v
Mondeo 1.8 / 2.0 Zetec 16v
Not that I'm intending any of the above, but reckon would make a good discussion topic down the boozer...

IIRC the EEC V is compatable across the range of modern fords, but with tweaked internals dependent on model.
Tiggr runs with both EEC-v and EEC-IV !!! Major nightmare getting those to talk to each other.
The Zetecs should fit but you may have trouble with the V6.
Best bet is to go for something like a YBD 2.0 Cosworth if you are going to spend money buggering about with engine swaps (just remember to change the gearbox internals at the same time !!!)
One of the benefits of using an older remanufactured (by Ford) engine is if the orig engine is pre cat required emmision regulations, your car will not need a cat for its MOT (this info given to me by DVLA)[/i]

Skittish as hell but combines the best chassis with the best motor :-)
Sorry there isn't a Ford motor currently made that would interest me...

Interesting pont abot the honda engine. Would cause problems with engine mountings in the shoe-horning process. You'd be into custom parts, and if they break.....
Purely hypetethical.....

Unfortunatley not, as the ECU controls not only the engine, but the alarm/imobiliser, and the dashboard...

Hence why I got more than one in Tiggr

How about (hypothetical) a rally Puma shell (the ones even wider than an FRP) with a Honda S2000 engine and RWD? Might be tough to balance the car, but the wheelbase should be about right seeing as the S2000's engine is mounted behind the front axle.

But what about using a 2ltr focus engine with turbo or supercharged?, wouldnt that be easier

If it was easy, then it would just be the way it was done......!!!
