My kat went into the body shop last week for the first time since I have owed her.

She has now had the rust removed from both back wheel arches and both door sills. (from were the seat belt buckle has got trapped in the door.)
I have also had one alloy wheel refurbished. As It had a gash on the face. Not my doing. I can thank the cars previous owner for that.
Also, two days before she went in. some idiot took a chunk out of her passenger side door, just under the handle. Left a dent and took the paint work down to the black!!!! So I had that fixed as well before it started to rust.

So while she was in. I have been driving around in a 56 plate Renault Clio. It felt wrong. Very wrong. like the feeling that you get when you leave a pet at the vets for an operation. The Clio was surprisingly good on fuel though. but I am not giving up my blue oval.

Anyway back to the point. All the rust has now gone. (that I know of). I am so pleased with my Kat. The quality of the work was first class.
I just don't know what to do about the door sills. I was going to put the genuine Ford Puma scuff plates on to them. but it seams a shame to cover up such a good paint job. Also I have heard that the scuff plates are rust magnets.
Any opinions please?

Leave it a month or so before refitting the scuff plates, just in case it comes back.

£400
They had the car for four days. My courtesy car was free of charge. I didn't even have to transfer my insurance across like some place make you do and I had a full valet.
I probably could of got it cheaper but the shop That I used is the best in the area. All the garages recommend it.

Would you please write up a short report on the garage/bodyshop used, including info such as phone/fax number/website etc, and post it in the Dealers praise/woes section, i will then add it to the Puma garage (etc) list for other Pumapeople to see.
Thank you.

I had forgotten about the Dealers praise/woes section. But you are right Pumapilot. It is a good Idea to add this garage to that section. I haven't got time tonight but I will try to do it tomorrow or friday. Thanks for the Idea.

Thank you.

If you would like to fit sill plates, the best idea i've heard so far was Happy Kats, velcro the sill plates on, then you can remove them whilst cleaning your Kat.

Pumapiolt - I have posted a report in the Dealers praise/woes section like you asked. I tried to include as much information as I could without being too boring!!!.

You say that Happy Kat used Velcro. Do you know if it Was a certain brand in in particular? As I do not want the sticky back of the Velcro to ruin the paint.

I used sticky back velcro exterior use.
There is a post of YOGs I gave a reply too on how I fitted mine and with photo too I think.
Unless you are sure your sill plates do not rub on the underside of your door don't refit them.
They are also a great rust trap.

searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale
