Hi everybody - RedSue here.

In 2001 I got my first Puma and loved it to bits, unfortunately ego and grandiosity got the better of me and in a moment of madness I P/x'd it for a BMW 330i convertible which I could ill afford. Having seen the light of day (the day after my hubby got a Cougar) the beemer has gone and I am now the very proud owner of a 2002 BRG Thunder (Not quite sure what makes the Thunder different as it seems exactly the same as my old beloved - help?) Hubby is well into UKcougar.com. Knowning that I was feeling all left out someone from Cougar suggested Pumapeople for me - so here I am and looking forward to getting to know you all and getting useful hints and tips to help me enjoy my baby cat to the max. biggrin.gif

From the Wiki...

Thunder - Year 2001, 2000 made, 1000 of each colour
Moondust Silver or Magnum Grey, Leather interior (Front seats (standard seats covered in leather), door cards, rear seats and rear side panels) Passenger airbag (though it appears not all have this), Air conditioning, Stereo Radio/CD Model 6006 with 6 disc in dash CD autochanger, Electrically operated and heated door mirrors and 15 spoke alloy wheels.
There is apprently a 1.6 Thunder, it appears to be genuine that there might be the odd 1.6

This is wot I don't understand as it's a 52 plate and none of the above seem to apply but every time I've had an insurance quote it comes up as a Thunder using the reg. no ! Hmm huh.gif

Hi Sue and welcome cool.gif

You mentioned 'BRG' which I assume is British Racing Green...the Puma was never made in this colour from the factory...if it is a metallic green it'll be Pacific Green so cannot be a Thunder.

It's not uncommon for all late Pumas to be down as a Thunder- be aware you will be paying over the odds if it insured as one because a non Thunder is in a lower insurance grouping and it does sound like yours isn't a Thunder!

What does the log book say? Is it a 1.7?
If your reg is comming up as a Thunder it is 1 insurance group higher...so your paying too much if its not a Thunder sad.gif

Agh you beat me to it Colin ranting2.gif bleh.gif

Thanks Guys - It is metallic green so guess it is the pacific green as mentioned. Will consider contacting my insurers tomorrow but my insurance was a competative rate (I think) at £353 fully comp huh.gif
Cheers,
Sue

With insurers looking for any excuse not to pay out, I'd still advise them...this time the "admin" cost will probably cancel out any saving, but atleast you know everythings ok smile.gif

Yeah..another newbie Puma owner...welcome sue. good.gif

thought mine was a Thunder Puma until I asked a few peeps and found it isn't plus my insurance only came up as a 1.7 Coupe. I STILL haven't got my freaking log book from DVLA so don't even know what it says that says just to double check.

if it is a Thunder it is a great choice smile.gif

there were stories of a green Thunder on the site some time last year - it was not a factory edition, but someone who took the Thunder and resprayed it

Someone stole my Thunder...

welcome back to Puma ownership biggrin.gif

I hope in your paper work the cam belt has been changed
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Hi sue, having had both a 1.7 puma, then a cougar 2.5 V6, now back to a racing puma, can certainly say that the puma is a far better car than the cougar! (in my opinion!)

Zarablackcoupe has the puma badges, might be worth asking her where she got them from.
