Very lucky... I've met a few people who carried on and found out too late what a mistake it was.

I can't think of a better car for me to own (with a small exception being a Lotus but that's not really practical) so i've stopped looking... smile.gif

Plenty of better cars, but non with the same emotional attachment that the Puma has.

Who says a lump of metal doesnt have a soul - mine did, she was neurotic wink.gif

Mate, after a certain junction incident, I'd add that yours was also a tad myopic wink.gif

I was driving into work this morning.

Now you all know I get grumpy if I have to drive the FRP between April and October instead of the bike, but the forecast is for a downpour and me and the Duke don't do downpours.

I pulled off the main road at Eriswell and accelerated hard into the next corner which is on the brow of a descent. The road was greasy wet and a little muddy.

I was suddenly very conscious of how much the Puma was talking to me.

As the suspension went light I could feel little nudges on the steering wheel as grip was won and lost.

I became very aware of the actual driving experience. The little bit of pressure on each hip in turn as cornering forces varied.

I noticed how tiny the adjustments to the accelerator were that are needed to keep the nose pointing almost where I wanted it to point, and that if it wasn't exact there was no panic as the Puma was on my side and wouldn't let me make a bollox of it.

At the bottom of the descent I felt heavier as the car levelled out and pulled hard for the next straight stretch. There's a familiar sort of clunky noise from the back as the rear suspension hits the corrugated surface in the dip.

Three cars ahead, the closer one no issue, just ease over to the right keeping an eye out for deer and pass him accelerating hard in third. Snickety snick into fourth, we forget just how slick that shift is.

Old BMW next, enough space between him and the guy in front, slingshot past and then come off the pedal and slot in but no need to brake as the oncomer was past and gone before I needed to pull out and close down the lead car.

Out and past, then let the speed decay, a bit of power for the next bend then brake on the straight bit, and all but coast to a halt at the zigzag across the A11.

Best part of a mile and a half, and more fun than you could have in Mondeo in a month of Sundays.

Good choice Schonbacher. I doubt you'll ever regret that lost deposit.
