also, if you turbocharge it, it's mutch harder to pass eu regulations and rodside controlers wil se the turbo if you open the bonet. I dont know what the rules are over in gb, but over here, if it's not original, or Tüf aproved, its banned.

His very successful 1.7 Turbo Puma, which he said on Saturday is currently 280 BHP
This I think is the second one he has built.
Note the homemade dash......

presumably raising the RPM limit of the engine WAY beyond what its designed for...9kish i would imagine to see those sort of gains..
I have found a much safer way of adding more power at lower rpm is to add a wizards of Nos nitrous kit with progressive controller...
All the torque you need and more, and without having to rebuild the engine and tune it to run a cammy high rpm setup which is going to be fuel thirsty all the time..

You're not going to get close to 200 BHP with just those mods I'm afraid - more like 160. You're also going to need a full ported head, wild cams, heavy duty valve springs, custom high compression pistons, uprated rod bolts, standalone ECU, good exhaust system and manifold. Budget upwards of £4K just for the bits.

Personasly I think nitrous really is the way forward! For a full bullet proof setup with advanced control would be 2k ish. I have bought my kit for 750 second hand and that includes getting it serviced and filled.
Bottles are 60 quid to fill and can last minutes or weeks depending how you use it!
Just think how much more petrol you will use turbo charging or putting throttle boddies on?
The beuty of nitrous is that it doesn't use any more fuel than standard and only uses nitrous on full throttle when giving it beans.
I'm sure eldoods setup gave him 40hp more and around 70% more torque. You wont get that for 2k any other way. It completely transforms the car
Anyone that says it's not safe to use nitrous simply doesn't know anything about it!! Why would Chris and many others of used it with no problems for many years.
Check out the wizards of nos forum and Chris thread on his set up
