Right, my rear bumper squeaks like crazy almost every time I drive the car, it's not just when going over speed humps or crashing into a pothole, it's almost constant just from normal road surface lumps and bumps. Constant eek-eek-e-e-e-eek-eeeek. So annoying.

Does anyone know what it could be? Or if not does anyone know how to get the rear bumper off without damaging anything so I can have a look and see what's rubbing? Is the bumper on floating mounts so I could try repositioning it slightly?

For a little more info, if I press in on the bumper just by the right side rear light cluster I can make it do the squeak on demand. I've tried spraying silicone spray down there but nothing seems to work from the outside so I think it's time it came off.

there is a Poo country meet in July, local to you, could bring the squeak along smile.gif
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

squeak comes most likely from the spare wheel tray. try tightening the bolt in the boot or wrap the inner 2 arms with a little rubber (available from ballons or cycles' inner tube) they should cure the problem.

I removed my spare wheel tray and the squeek stopped smile.gif

I really don't think it's that to be honest as I can make it squeak by pressing the bumper which isn't attached to the spare tray in any way but I will check it out tonight anyway.

Does anyone know how to get the bumper off?

I think not all forums have got a wiki so if you are not very familiar with the place you wouldnt even notice it wink.gif

perhaps you will find something trapped between the bumper and the chassis at the rear and that's causing the squeek. either that or you might have a screw missing from the bumper to the chasis and the 2 loose bits are rubbing against one another. OR, the bolts are too tight and when there is pressure on the plastic, it tends to squeak.

All analyzed from physics point of view wink.gif

All fixed, was a loose nut on the right lower fixing bolt in the boot.

Thanks e3 and pumapeople for the wiki help.
