Hello all!

Just been on a spending spree on my trusty green Puma, having the cambelt done, the dampers (all 4), suspension mounts, bushes and bottom arms done along with new discs AGAIN (as per my Fiesta a set only lasts me 10k miles before warping/setting themselves on fire), brake overhaul and general service. We don't have an MOT system over here, once a car is registered that's it - away you go unless you import a car and it has to pass a "Manx test". Think Father Ted doing scrutineering.. So no official advisories but the mechanic has stated on the invoice that one of the front tyres is badly cracked between the tread grooves (i.e not on the sidewall). I wouldn't mind but said Dunlop tyre was fitted in May 2014! He switched it to the rear for now.

So my question to you learned folks is how can this be? There's plenty of evenly worn tread left and I'm hardly Colin McRae. Your advice would be greatly appreciated :good:/>

Bought the car in November 2010 with 40.5k and FSH, now up to 71.1k. Now most of the oily bits have been sorted and the arches cured I've just a few bits to source: drivers side tail light cluster (cover only broken), passenger side mirror (anyone have a spare green one?), glovebox lid, door card clips and of course a parcel shelf. Trying to have it all ready for the drive from Heysham to Eastbourne at the end of next month.

IanG probably have the parts you are after.
Do a google search on those tyres to see of others having same issue.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Cool, thanks. Firstly I need to dig out the receipt for the tyres and have a word with the supplier, maybe a bit of good will could result in a swap or discounted replacement. The cynic in me says fat chance though!

Ta for the heads up re the odd bits too. :cool:/>

whats the date code on the tyre ? should be a 4 digit number moulded into the sidewall on the outside of the tyre, IIRC 1st two numbers are the week number, last two digits are the year code, eg 1410 means 14th week of 2010.
