I think mine have probably been less than 26mm for a good while, they have a giant lip on them as well but that'll soon be remedied with new discs biggrin.gif

Don't laugh at me but if your thickness goes too low, can the pistons pop out?
I'm going to look stupid now as there's bound to be some reason why that can't happen.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I have seen some that looked as tho they were just about to pop...on 23mm discs and knackered pads... ohmy.gif but actually there was still a bit to go....

it's hard to let the discs go any lower than 26 usually as problems with hum etc etc usually dictate that they need changing beforehand...

ohmy.gif laugh.gif That is VERY low.... my guess is that the pistons will probably be so contaminated too that they will be well past their best ....

eek!... blink.gif

Pumaspeed advertise An original FORD DISC machined to fit the FRP, do you know anyone who has tried these?
also where is the best place to buy a new set of pistons? do the seals come with them?

you can buy the pistons from Pumabuild or pumaspeed, both of them as im aware are not the orginal alcon pistons but there own pistons they have had made up or so i have heard.

you can still get the original pistons from ford but they are not cheap about £40 each for the 38mm piston and about £48 for the 41mm pistons and then the piston seal kit is about another £60 which does all 8 pistons.

finis codes from ford are

seal kit = 9098446
38mm piston = 9098447
41mm piston = 9098448

eldoodarino may have some good quality spares if not i think he still has a batch of his excellent stainless steel ones for sale

just used my last set... should have more in the next couple of weeks....

also, i'd stick to discs that are a PROPER FIT... ie not needing spacers, washers, steel plates etc etc etc...to make them fit... 1112202173.gif thats all i'm saying.. ph34r.gif

I'm needing some discs myself actually... maybe we could do a 'deal' with hi-spec for their nice bell and rotor setup... huh.gif

Chris

there isn't a red dot that fits properly... so i'd say buy the proper Alcon discs which are a very sturdy bit of kit or if you really fancy somthing different you could give the Hi-Spec ones ago..
