Couldn't find any information on the front speakers in the wiki, from what I've read online elsewhere though it looks like I need 13cm speakers?

Does anyone know if they are particularly difficult to replace, as I'd sooner save the £20 fitting charge at Halfords!

Thanks guys.

Oh, and happy new year too!

I fitted a set a while back, and used some adaptor rings. You may find the screw holes are on different places.

Just measured the OEM puma speakers (in my cupbaord) they are 160mm from edge to edge, with 3 fixing holes.

I used 130mm speakers, some coverage of it in my project thread. Also look for Chris (Eldoodarino)'s post on his ICE. Someone did a guide too.

The optimum size is actually 150mm, but these are quite rare.

You would be well advised to get some wiring adaptors to avoid chopping up the original door looms.

yep, you can use 5 1/4" / 130mm or 6" 150mm.... 6 1/2" will fit on the door but will rattle on the trim...quite badly too!...

i'd recommend the 5 1/4's...and just fill the slight gap with silicone...also mount the speaker on silicone....

ideally tape up all wires....line the inside of the outside doorskin with dynamat and replace all door card clips and fasteners..

These are what I'm thinking of in mine-

According to eldoodarino, they'll fit. And knowing infinity products, they'll be fantastic!

Sorry, flashbastd said it too :)

I had 6.5" no way they would fit without grinding the inside of the door.. maybe the magnet was bigger than the one you managed to fit?

I used 5.25 of the same model and it was a good fit. I did have to drill new mounting holes though but that's easy enough.

Why not? Are they not any good?
Or is it a problem with fitment?

both....

6" is the largest 'good' fit... JL Audio's...

5 1/4 is a safer and easier bet for trouble free....

it's the quality of the install that matters most.... line the inside of the outside doorskin...

Chris

as far as Infinity goes, i'd stick to the reference range.... iv'e tried those ones you link too, and they were not good at all...

So, for example, a set of theses would go in no problem?
It's just i'm pants at any kind of adaptation...

yep, they are very nice and would be an easy fit....

to be honest tho... if you get a 5 1/4" set of components (130mm)... there is MUCH more choice out there... Alpine do a nice G range and V range...

you may get a very small gap at the side of the speaker when fitted (on the 130mm ones) but thats easily filled in with a good silicone 'wipe round' using an automotive high strength silicone adhesive....use this inbetween the speaker and door also for a really solid fit....
