Graham,

I have to admit that looks a lot better in your pic, perhaps I just got used to the look of the one I had !!
Rear view is a plus point too.
I don't think top speed wil be an ssue with mine, with a very flat 400nm torque curve and 7k rev limit on tap :roflmao:

The other problem I have is 4 holes already in my tailgate plus reinforcing bars already welded in, and I can't find exactly the same spoiler anywhere......................

This really is becoming a nightmare.

Any solicitors out there wan't a "spare time project".....................

Here's an offer.....................

It turns out Painter fella's house is up for sale.................. freeze his assets, pursue him FOC on my behalf, and then keep whatever monies you recover ;)

I'd be happy just to know he didn't get away with it !!

Regards Dave

5.14 crown wheel, that'd be bonkers.

I used to run a 5.3:1 in my old rally 1400 tarmac screamer! Top speed was around 117 MPH at 9500 rpm on slicks.

Lol my V6 will be running a F + R 3.92 in 4wd mode and a 4.27 (steer it with the throttle) rear in 2wd mode :roflmao:

you'll be wondering what all the fuss about paint was the first time you stick it in a hedge.

PMSL .........................Never a truer word spoken ;)

Here's a little update for ya all...........................

Got it all idied up under the bonnet and made a few heat sheilds, enclosed blower motor as per MSA Regs :)

Installed the Engine and Gearbox, and the 4.27 Rear Diff, Driveshafts and Front Driveshafts .................... All ready to go then.....................
Not Quite........................

Started looking at the cooling water plumbing, and found most of the 24V Hoses fitted with the exception of the heater return, as it used to go via an Oil / Water cooler, but now I have a proper 16 row Oil Cooler so I needed to make a metal pipe with 2 short hoses each end, as I didn't want a long hose running from rear of engine, across the top and down to the water pump ;) ...................

Filled and bled the Hydraulic Cluch, filled the Diffs, T/fer and Main G/Box and Power Steering. Filled the Engine wih Oil.
So at this stage it was time to whip out all six plugs and whirl it over to get the oil pressure up / fill the cooler / filter............................50psi cranking cold which is about right for these engines.

Stuck the Plugs back in, switched on the Ignition and Fuel Pump to prime the fuel rail, then switched it all off and went indoors.................................

To get Mel.......................

I thought it only fair that as she's put up with all my spare time and cash going on the car that she should turn that key first :)

So, she spun the engine over and within less than a second it burst into life, with a muted bassy growl, I ran it for about 40 seconds or so just to confirm oil pressure, charging and no pouring out leaks then switched her off, to fill the cooing system.

All day Sunday was spent running it up for hours, checking Live data, checking for leaks etc all good with no nasty surprises :)

As the revs increase the exhaust note switches from Bassy Growl to a Banshee like crackly wail as it buzzes up to the Rev Limiter at 7036 rpm (Live data).

It's had about a 8 - 9 mile road test now, (on Trade Plates Occifer), :) and feels pretty good to me, with only a few minor issues to sort out.

Rev Counter reads 6000 at 4000 rpm, (as this engine is a 6 cylinder), I didn't think that would matter with EDIS but clearly it does LOL

The rear suspension is a tad hard and high, but I expected that, so I'll be ordering a pair of lower poundage springs once I've done a few more measurements and calculations ;)

The rear diff mount definitely needs a Poly one at £120 but I expected that too LOL

Fuel seems to get drunk from the meagre 6 Gallon tank at an alarming rate must have been getting about 12 MPG on my trip to Dornie and back but by feck it was fun turning it through 180 as I pulled into the PO car park with nothing more than an application of throttle and lock, and the noise from the exhaust is a glorious sound very much like a bassy version of a 6R4 :roflmao:

Here's a few pics.......................

Plus points are:-

It feels very, very quick and has more power to give yet as I've not wired up the VIS yet
Sounds Glorious
Stops on a sixpence
Front suspension seems about right just needs geometry setting up, castors cambers tracking etc
Sounds Glorious
Seems very civilised driving wise, pedals, controls etc and not at all rattly
Sounds Glorious
Oh and did I mention it Sounds Glorious too !!

Got to make a list of jobs to finalize now and work my way through them, Door Cards, Footwell Checker, Poly Diff Mount etc etc
Will be back soon ;)

Oh, and don't ask for a video yet cos I wouldn't have a clue how to, but we have Mels son up here in a couple of weeks so will get him to do one on "u tube" or whatever ;)

Cheers Dave

Yeah it was a bit intimidating at first, but it helped being that it's a bit down on power atm until I sort out the little circuit board to work the VIS Valve in the Inlet Manifold ;)

Apologies for crap quality, they were done hastily on a mobile phone one is a quick ride round a Gravel Car Park and off up the road and the other shows the VIS Valve working.............

Here.........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2H8az3VGAo&feature=youtu.be

and lighting up the tyres pulling in 2nd here........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBE2ylOxt0g&feature=relmfu

Still seems a bit flat to me, mind we were doing 120 when we passed the lorry going the other way, but I'm going to look at the ignition map next Posted Image

Cheers Dave

Cheers Buddy,

Yeah, watching the video seems a lot tamer than when we were in the car, you don't feel some of the sideways stuff eithe ;)

It did get up into 5th pretty quick considering I pulled out of the car park in 2nd and just floored it :)
