This Project Thread is an active log of whats been changed/upgraded on my puma in the 4 years I've had her, that way I can also keep a fairly sound record of what needs doing and when.

The Aim of my 'Project'

Keep the puma running as smoothly as possible with quality components mainly for road use however which the aim of branching out to trackdays in Spring 2013.. ..any advice regrading starting down this path as a novice will be hugely appreciated.

A brief History of W347

April 2008

Brought from a small time dealer in Runcorn (NorthWest) Spec/condition wise - 1.7 2000 Lux model in Moondust Silver, 52k, 9-spokes and larger 258mm discs, everything worked as it should, only downside was a drivers side bubbly rear arch, dealer wanted £2500 got him down to £2200 as the cambelt needed doing, wouldn't go any lower in relation to the rust but I was still happy with the price and drove away..

Already brought some:

Smoked Side Lenses
Flat Wipers
DMB 'Puma' Gel Badges

so fitted these when I got her back home:

May

I took her to PumaBuild and had the following work carried out:

Cambelt change with Genuine Ford Kit + Rocker Gasket
WaterPump
Full Powerflex bushes all round (part from 'front lower rear' which are 'uprated FRP')
Eibach Pro Lowering Springs
PiperX Panel Filter
Front & Rear Mudflaps
Ford 260mm OE Brake Discs

Air-Con topped
DOT5.1 brake fluid
Full Service

when I got her back home and she looked like this:

Gosh lots of little changes all adding up.
Those tyres did not last long till you changed them.
Some nice touches, particularily the wheels and brakes. Perhaps you have plans to fill/smooth the bumper recess out to make the plate look more seated.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

It was such a shame about those bridgestones, fantastic tyres, but my tracking had somehow gone all over the place on the fronts and where the outside and middle theads had 7/6mm the inner was down to the canvas!! scary.. Rainsports are lovely and fills you with confidence, very quiet too.

As far as the plate goes im not fussed with filling the recess, going to use some more double-sided tape on both ends to secure it down though, actually I've got a couple of decals perfect for both sides.

Been very sensible last few days having the following carried out by PerformancePuma (Steavie):

Great work, service beyond the call of duty and very well priced!

In the last few days

- Oil Change (ford grade)
- Coolant change (ford premium+de-deionised water)
- Brake Fluid change (Super Racing Blue)
- New oil + fuel filters
- Magnetic Sump Plug
- NGK Spark Plugs
- New OEM HT Leads
- New Copper Rear Brake Pipes
- Hel Braided Brake Lines Front+Rear
- New OEM rear beam bushes
- 6000k HID kit
- Re-Attached Real Carbon Fibre Splitter (FRP Mould)and fitted Stainless Rally Support Rods
- TRS Tow Strap (just had bolt made up and will be painting before fitting)

Before I took it over I gave the engine bay a freshen up a day or two before by fitting a Ford Racing Stainless Battery Cover and sprayed painted the underbonnet caps, maf air feed, battery bar red + used a red paint-pen to do the writting on the cam cover, I'm also fitting a stainless alternator heat shield I just had delivered yesterday.

Took a pic with my very crappy camera phone the night before last trying to showing the splitter and rally bars, but will get some proper pics up soon as well as the engine bay.

Also I can confirm that fitting braided lines after a brake upgrade makes a 'significant' improvement ..... as in they're frickin awesome now!
