well today i was extremely piffed off.

i was hoping to do a few trackdays in the frp this year as i couldnt in my standard puma as i sat too high in the car and could not get a crash helmet on.

i was advised that the frp seats sat lower and i thought brilliant.

on buying the car i noticed that i sat at exactly the same height as in my old puma sad.gif

with about half inch to an inch head room.

so bought a crash helmet ready for nurburghring and the other days like ford fair . tried it on and i cant even slightly put my head straight would have to lean over into the passenger seat sad.gif sad.gif

so im not a happy man today as i was really looking forward to ford fair and trax and even going to brands hatch but thats stuffed that up.

luckily you dont have to wear a crash helmet for the ring so ill just have to go there every year lol.

looks like i may be getting a new car sooner than i thought. wink.gif

out of interest how much headroom does everyone else have. im 6ft 1.

Im 6'1" as well and don't have a problem - though I used to have to wind the rear of the seat back a bit.

Its a lot easier with rear bucket seats - rpobably not an option for you though sad.gif

how much headroom do you have normally though??

when im in it normall i literally have an inch headroom.

when i have my hair spikey it gets flattened by the ceiling.

im right down in the seat.

was speaking to ed about it and it seems like i have a long top half of my body and shorter legs so i sit really high in seats i struggle in alot of cars.

surely someone could make some different subframes for the seats that sit lower. surley ja_stupid.gif ja_stupid.gif

Can't believe that, Al! sad.gif Which type of helmet did you try on? An open face one might give slightly more room.
Or cut a hole in the roof.

got a sparco open face one.

was only a cheap one well 70 quid so a dearer one might not have so much above the head as this sits up about 2 1/2 inches above head level.

looks like the 22b impreza will be coming quicker than i thought lol.

What if you lean the seat right back (as much as necessary)? You'll have to adapt to driving like it, but it seems like an option.

Get a custom subframe made up as the ford one is a bit high.

Or buy a base mount bucket seat for track days and just bolt it in the day before.

I think it depends on your proportions...I had a friend who was slightly short in the leg but long in the back ( smile.gif ), she had some problems fitting into certain cars as they are designed for 'average' people who of course do not really exist.

Might be worth getting the tape measure out to check...suits you sir wink.gif

I always wondered whether the Sparco subframe meant that some other model of Sparco seat might fit (fixed bucket etc...), perhaps one that have a lower seat base, therefore all you would need to change is just the driver's seat ja_stupid.gif Might make the interior look odd but it's better than bye bye FRP sad.gif

Al i have a seat you can try in your car, it is from the old Ka Rally car which are side mount so they should drop low enough for you but it will mean swaping it for track days
