Just wondering if my ABS pump is ok? I makes quite a noticable noise during the self test when i drive off and if the traction control kicks in the pump makes a bit of a grinding noise until wheelspin stops. Are they meant to be heard?

The grinding in both cases is always pretty obvious (one reason why new owners often post here asking what the noise is! wink.gif ) I doubt you need to worry. I don't even know if the ABS can get louder as a result of some fault.

Yes they are meant to be heard (and felt)
On the Ford Racing Puma, when you're going slowly round a shiny bend in a multi-storey car park and the tread depth is a bit low, it sounds and feels like the car's going to shake itself to pieces.

(the beauty of mathematics)
