Has anyone else had a problem with their drivers side windows not closing properly ?

I have two Pumas on my drive and on both of them the glass is pulling out of the rubbers and leaving a gap at the top left hand corner.

If I stop the closure of the window say half way up the glass in the frame can be moved around, so the glass can be tilted up as it closes but before it reaches the top you have to let go of the glass and the glass doesn't fill the frame properly.

You need to remount the glass to the regulator, or possibly replace the regulator.

If you strip off the door card, and have a play with it, you may be able to improve things.

Is it an easy job for an amature to strip the door down and put it all back together properly? my window sticks really badly but doesn't bend any rubbers, causing it to close slowly...unless it's raining then it wizzes back to the top. I was thinking of stripping and then using some WD40 on bits inside as i'm guessing it just needs a bit of greese. But i didn't wana strip it down and not be able to put it back together, lol.

My main concern is burning the motor out as it seems to struggle a lot.

As Flash has said, the window needs to be placed back into its 'runner', door card clips are fragile, so you might need to buy a few before doing this job.

Remove mirror cover - lower window, and pull the leading edge of the cover towards the interior of the car, while pulling the trailing edge toward the rear of the car.

Three screws, door lever, door pull and just above the door pocket. Remove door lever surround.

Then, go around the door card and tug the trim away from the door.

Lift trim up, to unhook from the window area.

Disconnect mirror & window switches.

Put the door card somewhere safe.

a simpler solution that might work (it did for me on a previous puma) was to clean all the rubber edages surrounding the window with silicone spray (£5 from HALFORDS). This will reduce friction and protect the rubber.

If that doesn't work then it's a door strip down as suggested by others.

good luck!

The window struggles straight away from being right down inside the door before rubbing against the rubbers that are visible.... but i will try this 1st anyway as it sounds much quicker and easier. thanks :)

That's great to read
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale
