Advice required!

Here's my problem: rusty rear arches - yes, I know its hard to believe, but my Puma has succumbed.

So, I plan to have a pair of 206 front wings grafted onto the rear of my car to fix the problem permanently. No real problems there then. BUT, I'd also like to have the Pumaspeed bodykit fitted...

And here's the thing - has anyone fitted a bodykit on top of replacement, (non-Ford) wings used as arches? I know the profile of the Peugeot wing is similar to the Ford arch, but I'm not sure how much problems this would present when fitting the flared bodykit rear arches over arches which would not be an idential profile to the original, (rusty) ones.

Has anyone got experience of doing this kind of thing?

Thanks in advance
Davie

Hi there, if your thinking of fitting the pumaspeed Frp panels then there's no need to replace the arches with Peugeot wings.
When tickford made the racing puma the rear arches where cut so the wheels didn't catch the standard arch when they where extended.

Probably best to contact Pumaspeed and ask them what their kit needs in order to be fitted. They might assume the whole arch is present.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Thanks for taking the time to reply folks, really appreciate it!

Dave, you make a good point. I can see the need to cut away some of the arch to allow the extended wheels to be free from the new arches. That would allow the new flared arches to fit without catching on the tyres. I'm guessing the new panels would have a similar design to the original arches anyway, with the turned-in lip on the innermost edge of the panel. This was what I wasn't sure would be on the Pumaspeed items.

Happy-Kat - on the money as well. Of course, a quick call to Pumaspeed should give all the answers I need, with regard to how much arch needs to be present in order to get a perfect fit for the new panels.

I'm currently waiting to get my handbrake cable replaced, as DIY-me managed to snap the current one by trying to tighten up on the number of 'clicks' on the handbrake. Unfortunately, I didn't realise the whole cable was turning as well as the locking nut, resulting in a snapped cable and a bit less braking capability than I had when I started. Oh well, you learn something every day!

Haha.

Thanks for your advice though.

Davie
