After selling my puma (for pennies) last august with an upgrade to a mondeo estate ST220, I haven't been on here for a while, but this made me come and see what you think.
My neighbour is an independant mainly from home car dealer, and I noticed yesterday he's got a absaloute mint 51 plate, grey puma on the drive. No rust, no marks, interior is immaculate, 1 owner, FFSH, 90k miles. I know what he paid trade, and it is amazing that a car like this can swap hands for so little.
So what would this be worth, £1k? £1.5k?
I was very tempted to have it off him, but the reason for selling in the first place was because I need an estate. It's a stunner though!

Wave £1200 in front of him if it really is that clean. But give it a good long test drive and make sure the bushes are sweet first, if not, use that to knock it down to a max of £1k.
This is assuming that the rear arches are genuinely clean (And not just filled/sprayed to sell - get a magnet ) and the cambelt is on it.
If no cambelt but bushings are OK, make an offer of somewhere under a grand (£850 or £900) as that'll be the first thing you want to do. If no cambelt and saggy bushings, £750. Doesn't matter how clean it is externally and internally, if it needs bushes, top mounts, cambelt that's £500 in and of itself - and you can find clean Pumas with all that done for under £1500 these days - so it makes no sense to overpay just because it's had a machine polish!
If the arches are spotty, don't bother - find a car that's had them welded already but has other, easier to resolve issues...
Bear in mind as a neighbour you should get something akin to mates rates anyway

Like I said, I'm not planning on buying it because I need an estate! As much as it is tempting, I was just interested what a really clean pumas are fetching at the moment.
Arches look good, but then mine did when I bought it - that last about a month!
He's got it advertised at £1k I believe, but I said I thought it was worth £1.2k, so good to know I'm on the right wavelength.
As to mates rates, he's told me that I can have a car off him at pretty much trade price if I wanted it (he paid £350 for it!)
