today I had to have my 18 month old cat put to sleep, after disappearing for a couple of days last week he turns up with a limp tail a lump on his back and is unable to stop peeing himself. after finally having a chance to look at him properly we took him to the vets straight away and the vet said that someone had pulled his tail so hard that it had detached his tail and destroyed his nerves going to his tail and bladder so he couldn't feel a thing and at the time and wasn't in any pain. the chances of recovery form this injury was so remote that the nicest thing was to put him to sleep. the missus and my step son was in tears and now he to say good by to his cat because of the horrible actions of some horrible person out there. my missus signed and decided to be there while he had the injection, all the time while he was being shaved and injected he was purring and licking her hand right up until his heart stopped. my little lad and missus have been upset all night now and we have lost the best cat I have ever met. he was the softest cat you could ever meet and would come running over just for a cuddle anytime you shouted him. the chances are I will never find out who did it but if I do I wont be held responsible for my actions toward a cruel scumbag that feels like he can hurt a defenceless animal to the point that it has to be put down.

I'm so sorry to read your post, your pussy cat sounds just like ours who always wants cuddles and attention. Anyone who can inflict such suffering on a defenceless harmless pet should be put down themselves and not painlessly IMHO. RSPCA are always looking for responsible owners to rehome abandoned cats ours came from there 12 years ago, so hopefully before too long you could see your way to giving another feline beauty.

So sorry to hear about your poor cat. Is it certain that it was a so-called human who did the damage ? One of our spayed Burmese was frequently chased by tomcats and twice got bitten at the base of the tail with very similar effects to what you describe. She recovered but very nearly had her tail amputated by the vet.

That's truly terrible, some people are monsters.

I hope your family can recover from this as soon as possible

There are some evil people around. Disgusts me to think any person could do this to a defenceless animal.

We have 3 cats and would be utterly devastated if anything happened to ours so I know what you must have gone through.
