My Puma has a boot rattle, it doesn't appear to be rear suspension related as pressing down on the car at the side of the boot hatch does nothing, but pressing on the boot causes a metallic type sound. It's fine on smooth roads but at slow speed on poor roads it sounds like there's a suit of armour in the boot! I'm just wondering if it's those contact pins rattling. Is this a common problem? I'll know for definite when I go out next, I'll lift the boot lid and stick some foam round the pins and drive it up the crumbly street road outside our house. Boot lid locks and opens fine but does seem to have slight play when pressed down. Maybe boot rubber seal needs replacing?

Have you checked your spare wheel carrier. Have you checked your jack.

Yes, checked both and they are secure. Definitely seems like it's from the boot lid. Having said that, it's water tight and locks fine.

Sorry it's taken a while to respond. I think your right, I'm going to find a garage to sort this. House moving getting in the way of things at the moment!
