So, just a couple of small bits done lately.

After the problems thrown up by the service I took her to Owens Garage in Haywards Heath, and I cant say enough good things about them. Go the cam belt changed, fixed a few oil leaks, new power steering pump, new HEGO sensor, de-clogged the throttle, new tyre and new oil, plus they valeted her as well. :) So take your car there :)

Just bought an original FRP airbox, so when I get back to Brighton I'll fit it. Does anyone know if it needs special screws or mounts? Once I sell the Pipercross induction kit I was thinking of a replacement K&N panel filter. What are peoples thoughts?

Just waiting for my FR mudflap stickers, FRPOC membership stuff and tickets and tshirt for 10th anniversary shindig :)

I saw this car on EBay. The trip up to Scotland put me off though. That and the massive hole in the bumper. But at less than £4k that's an absolute steal, had to pay way more for mine!

Hey,
well not updated for a long time. But thought I'd do a small update.
435 has gone through a lot this year - bless. Eldude did a thread about the work he did, full underseal, all new brakes and suspensions.

Fantastic work mate looks brand new! How much was the full respray if you don't mind me asking as 0007 could do with a fresh coat of paint

So,
Realised I've not posted about my car in a good long while.
Truth is I've not really driven her that much, I take her out for a good thrash once in a while, but thats about it. I did have a project thread going somewhere, but thought I'd do an update.

Work lately (within the last 12 months ish)

I had a full respray in 2011 and it looked good to begin with, but on closer inspection the job they did wasnt fantastic. There was overspray all over the underside, most noteably on my (then) brand spanking new shocks and springs! Not to mention the paint they used was very time, so every small stone chip caused a bigger mess. They also put no underside protection on, even though I asked them to, so I had to do it! But my biggest problem is that now, only 2 years later, the rust they told me they cured has come back, So, now I'm having to get it all sorted again.

The sills look very rotten and the rear arches at the bottom are rusty and are coming away. I've got a good quote from a car restoration place right behind my house. So last night a friend and I stripped her ready for the work.

The rust:

Found a few quid while stripping it out, so the car is almost paying for itself! :)

Hope the restoration goes well for you and they find it quiote contained the rust.
Will you be taking pictures as the work is being done?

How much did you pay for the re-spray initially? I'm looking to get parts of mine re-sprayed and wondered if any savings you can make end up costing you more in the long run.

Yeah, I'll try and get as many pics as possible :)

The respray cost me £2000, for everything except the root, this also included a few repairs. Not sure if that is of help to you?

It is the rivits that are the issue, I seen inside mine not bad so sprayed with treatment.
Sadly there are lots of aspects of the rear arch assembly that allows rust and/or water ingress.

I'm not quite sure what their plan is, the chap was adament he can deal with it. Judging by the cars they normally work on this should be easy for them.

Was it Churchill who said "I don't want details, just get it done"? :)

It was a total pain! Yeah had to do a lot of bending! Even after that I couldnt line all the holes up so have left a few bolts out. It doesnt rattle so I guess it's ok.
