Hi I have just bought a puma thunder, silver 02 plate and the rear wheel arches are a bit rusty. I have been told by a ford garage or to bother getting them done as in 6-12 months it will re rust as the rust will be in the steel so it will pop up again., Is this correct?

Yes if the rear arch lip is not cut out and a peice replaced the rust will come back.
There are some threads on this and how members have had it done.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

I did mine properly last year. Cut the rust out welded new metal in etc.

No signs of rush or bubbling :good:/>

I've spent today replacing the sills on my Daughters Ka.
I sprayed lots of Waxoyl trough the sills when I have finished then Shultzed the outside and the wheel arches.
Hopefully that will keep the rust away for a few years. :)

Ka's are horrendous for rusting! Worse than the Puma I think.

Saw one in the scrappy the other week.. think it was only a 2000 or 2001 never seen so much rust on a car :blink:/>

All the underside.. the sills.. all along the bottom of the doors.. front wings..rear arches.. everywhere!

We have a Ka as a works van. It's atrociously rusty now, but the main problem comes when the initial signs are seen and aren't dealt with there and then. £50 of sanding and spraying of surface rust could save a few hundred quid of cutting and replacing of metal but no bugger does it because they don't understand the concept of how these things work, it seems.
