I have owned this puma for 2 days. Worked asbsolutely sweet those two days however just driving it home from work yesterday (steadily plodding away at 70mph) stopped at a roundabout and once the revs hit idling speed the oil light came on and the car almost stalled. Luckily it was as the lights changed so put my foot down and the car pulled away and after a few seconds the oil pressure came back and the oil light went out. However whilst the oil light was in, the power steering failed. It however recovered with the oil pressure.

When I got home I checked the oil level and it was no problem however noticed I had no water in the coolant reservoir, literally bone dry. I topped it up with water and it took 4 litres to fill it to the minimum level. I allowed the car to cool and then tried to start it up again. It would not turn over. You could hear the starter motor trying and a slight hissing noise. I stopped and could hear a leak. All the water I had just put in came back out from somewhere underneath the servo. I topped it back up and tried again and the engine managed to turn over when I pumped the accelerator however idling sounded awful and wouldn't settle out.

Can anyone please advise on what could have happened and anyway to fix it. I have a 51 plate standard puma thunder.

Im no expert but it sounds like the cause of your problems is the water loss possibly from a rubber hose beneath the coil pack from your description and everything else is a symptom of overheating.

Your oil light came on and you lost power steering because the revs dropped too low and was about to stall through overheating

Start with finding and fixing the leak probably through the hose described. Ian G on here should probably have one.

Excellent mate thank you. Looking into fixing the leak as soon as I get a day off.
