Really getting into this now.

The swimming is just amazing - record after record falling. Brill for the TeamGB lasses, and as for Phelps, well, that relay was awesome. British records getting smashed too.

Just funny then that the boys had a bit of a falling out wink.gif

Did you see the mixed doubles badminton with Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg this morning?

Sadly they got knocked out!

My claim to fame here is that I taught Anthony GCSE Chemistry!

Nah - keep losing the iPlayer link.

Enjoyed the Sydney games, was sailing for the Greek ones, but these are just turning out to be brilliant.

The media are fuelling the diving rift.
When asked about their performance the older guy just talked about how he did.

Its great to see record after record smashed. Just hope its all legit! wink.gif

I did see that Russian weightlifter bash her face after coming bottom. She was the favourite, as well.

coming bottom

tee hee!

I agree that the "rift" is being blown up. The fact is Tom, the young lad was poor by his own standards and they were fine with each other. It is like the media want to wreck their partnership before 2012! 1112202173.gif

I thought I'd heard this was going to be Tom Blake's last Olympics

As for the media coverage. Blake *did* say stuff, and I gather Dailey *did* respond in kind, although I've not heard his interview. Nobody's been accused of making anything up, mis-quoting, or even taking quotes out of context, journalists have a job to do - and that job is to report what people say and do.

Whilst journalists have a job to do, there is no news like bad news, scandal or gossip. Happy stories don't get headlines or sell papers.

If they said everything was fine between the athletes then no one would care.

Incredible performance from the team. Should be some more medals to come as well.

Pretty impressed with the team's performance up to now.

It's a shame that the track and field guys aren't as good as they perhaps once were in the good old days (christie, black, Jackson, gunnell, Akabusi (sp), backley etc.) else we could give the USA a real run for it's money.

Isn't it now the best we have done since something like 1920?

Then again, I've just seen that we won the women's 400m and have now beaten the 1920 previous best smile.gif

Depends on the State, and whether its independent, like Ukraine and Georgia, or part of the federation. What you have to bear in mind, is the majority of the old USSR team, esp gymnasts, were Ukranian.
