How hard/easy? The ones on my tailgate are too weak to support it and it's come down on my head twice!

i have this problem too, mainly with the weight of the spoiler on..

I beleive the fiesta ones are stronger? anyone know the ones to get?

Think is just a case of unbolting the old, and rebolting the new.

I;d like'd to have got the extra taillight in the spoiler too! but didnt at the time. sad.gif

I'd much rather this kind of spoiler than an over the top F2 or pram handle evo type.

Think this one follows the FRPs lines better than on a standard puma shape wink.gif tongue.gif

it is either in the Wiki or cosmeticv section, member del666 fitted different struts
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

thank you, better than me at searching posts!

1. The fiesta struts have different connectors at the bottom (chassis) end due to the angle they connect to the ball joints on the car.
SOLUTION: Swap the bottom (fat) end connectors on the struts for the ones on the puma struts.
-----
2. The fiesta struts are approx 5mm longer than the puma ones, meaning they allow the boot to open further and cause the glass to touch the roof.
SOLUTION: Only swap one strut and the original puma strut will max out at a point the glass does not quite touch the roof.
-----
3. The fiesta struts cause the boot to pop open with too much force (possibly causing injury to your chin wink.gif )
SOLUTION: Again, fitting only one strut will still have enough power to lift the boot without causing injury.
-----
4. On a late puma, the 3rd brake light uses the right hand strut as a conductor which raises the following issues:
- a. The fiesta struts only conduct when fully extended i.e. boot open (mine did anyway)
- b. The fiesta struts do not have the spade terminals so they must be swapped from the puma strut. Doing so involves unscrewing the connector on the thin end and therefore gripping the rod with some sort of grippy thing. By doing this it is extremely easy to score the metal which will cause the seal to fail when the strut is compressed. When I did it, I broke 2 which leaked everywhere and then failed to pop (or even hold the boot up).

SOLUTION: Fit only the nearside striut (without the connectors) will stop both these problems from occurring.
-----

So my top tips for doing this are:

  1. Only fit one fiesta strut
  2. If it's a late puma with 3rd brake light make it the nearside one
  3. Only swap the connector on the fat end of the strut

perhaps we should go halfs on a pair off ebay! lol

Why has this been moved to cosmetic body mods? It is neither cosmetic nor a modification simply a failure of a standard Puma part. Please put this back in the General section where people can benefit from it as no one would think to look in cosmetic modifications.

I was never a fan of spoilers but I think spikes looks good on his FRP It's not too high does'nt look lame or cheap or tacky it doesn't look out of place atall. It actually looks good.

Some I've seen though are over the top and pretty drastic I seen a BMW the otherday and it had this black high spoiler on it, it looked like an aeroplane and it was so cheap looking and with those lexus lights on a BMW it took about 5 grand off it cos it looked so cheap, it was just horrible.

Sorry to resurrect this one but does the boot 'pop' open on it's own now Spike? Did you fit the Fiesta strut as per the Wiki?
