Hello all,

Recently purchased a 02 1.7 Puma with fairly low mileage, been running fine but have noticed a burning smell coming through the heaters, or with the window rolled down. I'm not 1005 certain, but it appears that the radiator fan doesn't come in. Checked the fuses they are ok, belling out on an ohm meter. All fluid levels are correct, temp guage doesn't budge up from the halfway point. Car is used daily for both commuting and pleasure, longest journey recently was back from Portsmouth to Maidstone, about 1hr 40 mins. Temp didn't nudge over half way.
The smell, however, was and is still present, difficult to describe other than a burny, hot metal smell. Radiator area feels nice and warm and smells similar, fan doesn't seem to come in when car sitting idle. I'm convinced it's the fan not coming in, but obviously the instruments tell another story. Any advice welcome, I'm not very mechanical just want to know what to say when go to a garage if i need too or whether i'm paranoid!
