I've ordered a set which should be here tomorrow, I have to teach a class tomorrow from 4 onwards and I wanted to fit them before as the current bulbs are dire! Assuming they turn up around 12pm which is when our parcel post normally comes will I have time to fit them as I understand the headlights have to come out?

Also is there a guide to doing it?

It's a bit fiddly but not impossible

If you have an owner's manual, then look in there in the bulb replacement section.

If not..

switch lights off

open bonnet

remove 2 screws ,one on either end of the plastic radiator grille and pull it out

remove screws top and bottom/front of light assembley that go through the black plastic mounting lugs.

turn the retainer at the bottom front to release the fitting, it's a bit stiff.

you can then pull out the light assembley pod with some grazing of knuckles and swearing as it may be stuck in.

there is a drain tube that can be pulled out now and the plugs for the lamps can be released

once out and on the kitchen table you can release the spring clips that snap on to the back of the black plastic pod.

change the defective lamp, you will need to twist the lamp out anticlockwise as it sort of locks in.

Take care not to touch the glass surface of the new lamp as it will blow again very soon.
Halogen lamps heat up to very high temps and if there are finger prints on them they just say bang or pop.

Refitting as they say in Haynes manuals is the reverse of removal

There are two screws - One at the top of the headlight which attaches to the wing and one at the bottom right next to the grille on BOTH headlight units
There is also a piece of plastic near the grille which turns and releases the headlight unit once all screws have been removed.

Hope this helps smile.gif

and there is a thing under the lamp to the outside, which the bottom of the lamp slides onto, so you need to pull it towards you, away from the car to release.

The first one may take a while as you decide how hard you dare wriggle the unit to get it free!! Once you've done one, the second one is a doddle!!

It's tricky at first but easy once you're used to it. I reckon to do both in under 5 minutes... tongue.gif

The Haynes Fiesta Manual (3397) can answer a lot of your questions.
