I was looking for a guide on the frp cambelt change I have the proper looking tool and have done cambelts before but I seem to be hearing a lot about advancing cams.and does the standard locking pin for crank work with the frp.Now the engine is out of the car at the moment to make the job easier.Does any one have a guide or a few pictures.I have seen the workshop manuals on ebay for £4 but I have a strange feeling they wont cover the cambelt change .So does anyone have a guide or ever bought this ebay software. Please help starting to think I wont be able to do it.And no one has a clue about them in Ireland I dont want them to ruin my precious engine. oh and wats the easiest way to get another 10hp from std frp engine

Not sure where you are in Ireland, but a member here runs this garage, and used to own a FRP too.

There is a post with pictures on changing the cam belt on a 1.7, not for the faint hearted! Though yu need more tools other than just the locking bar in order to do the job, even if you make home made ones, as the member who made the post did.

There is a group buy for the correct locking tool on here at the moment.
Mine had been done using the STD puma tool and that contributed to a £1400 bill for engine repair I got.
Be warned!!

i got an experienced mechanic to do mine. when it was out the car, he litrally spent 5 mins doing it, marking it all up and locking it. Will need a big breaker bar to do it.

Why not see if you can find someone to do it. Out the car slip em a 20, they would be dead sorted
