This is becoming quite a habit... :roflmao: what are the odds of servicing two FRp's with numbers next to each other..mm..anyway here goes...

Daves Car :woot2:

As you can see this one (as they all do) was leaking gas quite bad out the exhaust ports when I removed the manifold..

the engines always look quite grubby and old once taken out, you just don't realise how much dirt they gather, especially if drive shaft grease has spun out of the boots which makes a god awful mess all over the place.. :puke:

usual stuff done to this one... I removed the sump sections and had them 'aqua blasted' for a stunning finish... the previous one I did was a sand blast type of finish and thought it looked a little course... changed front and rear crank shaft seals etc etc..

Posted Image

cleaned down the engine a bit more and replaced both camshaft seals, water pump timing etc..

Posted Image

all timed up again now, bar the final tightening of the bottom pulley which I do on the floor when the flywheel is on and locked up.. :bleh:

Posted Image

Cam locking bar inserted and cams torqued up to spec by hand...

Posted Image

also changed the idle pulley and Aux tensioner (which was quite expensive) to give a super smooth Aux drive... both were quite rough and dry sounding..

All done and ready to rock!... new bottom hose too...

Firstly a huge thank you to Chris for the work he's just completed on 374, it's made a tremendous difference to the car.

Bit of a story, back in 2008 I borrowed a mates fiesta for a couple of weeks, really enjoyed it and got me thinking, years before i'd taken the kids to some science show in London where Ford had the Puma Cosworth on a stand, so I thought what about an FRP.
So with money burning a hole in my pocket I went of to a well know Puma Expert in Birmingham and brought 374, not really knowing much about them. The car was really noisy which I thought was great only to discover the manifold was hanging on with two studs! Time for a service off to that garage that shares its name with a well know TV series staring Jeremy Clarkson. Service completed but with a report that the mechanic couldn't set the timing as the cambelt was one tooth out following a previous belt change, complete B*****KS ! i thought as the car ran great, what did I know.
So for years i've driven the car round with a leaking manifold and also discovered that when Chris inserted the FRP camshaft tool it wouldnt fit before he stripped it down. Often wondered why I couldn't keep up with Chris and Vaz on the way to Castle Coombe, this year i'm going to see them off.
Any way some time latter that well know FRP owner Vaz introduced me to Chris, the rests history he's looked after the car ever since.
This latest work has transformed the car it's alot quieter, manifold leak fixed, It Revs freely through all gears and again is a pleasure to drive .
If Chris isn't to knacked from doing mine give him a call and get yours sorted.

Good news mate.
Hoping to get mine done this year, sometime between RS Combe and Ford Fair.

Hi Chris,

My Racing Puma (No.234) has what I would describe as a rough dry running sound coming from around the aux belt area.

Do you recall how much the idle pulley & Aux belt tensioner cost ? and do you have the Ford Finis codes for these two parts?

My Racing Puma is booked in at a bodyshop in Loughborough next week (Tech 2) to have the rust treated on both rear arches and sills, Once this is done I will then look at changing both the idle pulley & aux belt tensioner - the dry running noise is begining to annoy me now.

Roger.

Are they going to cut that rust out?.
