the stereo is a 6-disk changer in the frone - anybody know if this has pre-outs for a sub??

If you mean pre outs as in twin phonos as per most amps, none of the ford stereos have these
Your only option is buy an amp with a high level input or upgarde your stereo to a non ford unit

Just in case you don't already know; there is apparently a silver surround to mount standard units in the Puma dash, however I've never found it. I bought a black one and sprayed it! I have a feeling there's a photo on my site: http://www.kayj-production.co.uk/puma
