sorry to report the demise of another KAT but very fortunately not of myself.

driving on the A5104 near Llandegla in North wales, slowish I might add (50mph) & lost total control of the car on what I think was ice - the next thing I know I'm down an embankment, done a couple of side rolls & sat upside down in the middle of a field - NOT a pleasant experience. Kat must be a write-off & I've now got to consider what to buy to replace it, trouble is I've lost some confidence in it now & may not buy another to replace it.

this is a warning for anyone around those North wales roads in winter - THEYRE BLOODY DANGEROUS !!!!

Unlucky, main thing is you're OK....Pumas are reasonably safe aswell as fun (as I also had the misfortune to find out.)

:!:
Calm down dear, it's only a car....

Even if you Kat is dead, you are still alive...and in the run-up to Christmas that's even more important than usual.

Yikes.. another one.. glad your ok, and after all it's only a car..

I've always been told that the best thing to do after a car crash is get behind the wheel again as soon as pos..

(Although when I did this I crashed again within a day! wink.gif - but it was a bmw so doesn't really count )

Bummer. Sounds nasty. sad.gif You gotta take it soooo easy in these cold conditions, I got overtaken by a 1.2 Corsa the other day, but don't care, better safe than sorry. As soon as it gets to about 8pm the backroads seem to freeze, they're horrible to drive on.
Best thing is your ok. smile.gif

If I suspect ice I drive along at 10mph check no-one is behind then stand on the brakes...soon gives an indication of the quality of road surface!

No good for BLACK ice though

i miss all my ice driving and snow sad.gif but the cars and vans i drove all had winter tyres on, which make a very big differance smile.gif

still remember driving down the motorway doing 50mph + with the road covered in snow smile.gif

that you and several other drivers involved in crashs' have been in good enough shape to come back to a website and discuss it bodes well for the car at least....

Pleased to hear you're ok - sounds like you were very lucky!

Whatever you buy an unexpected ice patch will have similar effects. No car is guaranteed to grip under those circumstances. Just a bit of bad luck I think.

So pleased you survived it. biggrin.gif

On a personal level I'm always impressed to hear how well the shell seems to stand up in these circumstances. (On the other hand I suppose not many of those who die in cars come back and post on Forums.)

Once again - really pleased for you and your friends / family

thanks for the replies guys,

have to admit I was pretty impressed how the car was after the accident - both doors opened perfectly despite being crumpled - had a little luck though (if you can call it that!!!) in that the field I "landed" in was moorland & a bit boggy so probably absorbed some of the impact. The PC who came to the accident told me that was the second accident of the day on the same section of road so one to watch for the A5104 !!

looking back though it amazes me just how simple it is to have what could have been a fatal accident, wasn't driving mad or anything, just going about my normal daily routine - certainly makes you think

come up and see me...make me smile

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO -What a Ride!:D

Blimey, it's an epidemic! I did mine 3 weeks ago and the courtesy car people said when it gets cold, wet, wintry they are absolutely inundated with insurance courtesy car requests! I'm on my second Puma now....still has all the attractions and now i know they're robust in rollover (I crawled out of the windo but both doors still opened and I was fine). The good news is if you go for another Puma then your premium won't change.......until next year.
