I like thinking of the car having character :)

From the Wiki these are the parts for the bushes for the FRP. Prices will be different now.
Rear Beam Bushes - 1016439 - £16.30 each – as standard Puma, Fiesta 1995 - 2001, Ka - 2008, StreetKa
Front Rear Bush (Front Wishbone) Uprated - 1042691 - £6.21 each.
Front Bush (Front Wishbone) - 1055191 - £3.54 each - as standard Puma, Fiesta 1995 - 2001
Anti Roll Bar Bush - 1145272 - £4.95 each – for 16mm ARB as standard Puma, Fiesta / Courier with diesel engine 1995 - 2001) - FINIS was 7102392 replaced by 1145272.
Anti Roll Bar Bush (18mm Fiesta Zetec-S ARB) - 1310518

It is a shame that there was no presence at the NEC as the car has always been very popular attraction though I guess it it a pretty big commitment to not only provide a car(s) for the set days but also to set up and man the stand during the show.

120k didn't PG12's go over 200k and still going strong when moved on?

Thanks for the info Kat! :beer:/>

Good to hear another car has gone to 200k+. It would suggest there is a fair bit of potential life in 113 yet before a restoration/rebuild is required.

The awful running cured itself overnight. Today it has been back to normal after running like a dog all week so there may be no point in taking it to Tremona tomorrow after all. That said, it is showing error code PO133; the generic description of which is "O2 Sensor CKT Slow Response". I'll call Richard tomorrow and see if it is worth the trek over now it is running fine or whether I should just clear the code and see how it goes.

I have also decided to strip the heater control fascia as I think some bulbs might have blown as it doesn't seem to illuminate very well at night, although I'll need to get a stereo removal tool first. Looked in Halfords but they wanted over £5!! Ebay, here I come.

indeed - though afaik its has now been broken up and sold for parts - bodywork died and hence got rid - no point slapping new parts on a rotting shell

now ragging a 350z to death for over a year now - don't miss the pain that came with the frp - personally won't buy ford again...

Hello again,

It has been a while so thought I'd provide an update. Just before Christmas I replaced the rear bush on the front O/S lower suspension arm. It took a bit longer than planned as when I removed the arm I found the old bush was welded in:

I wasn't expecting that and it threw me a bit so went off to ask a garage if that was normal as I was expecting an interference fit. Anyway, they advised that it is not unknown if the arm has worn so proceeded with the swap. With it being welded in it took a fair amount of hacksawing and grinding etc. to get the old bush out but got there in the end. Then it was just a case of pressing in the new bush.

It seemed to push into place OK and didn't seem loose but rather than risk revisiting it I welded in the new bush too just in case there was a valid reason for it being done before. Unfortunately all the attacking the old bush meant I lost a lot of the coating off the arm and as I didn't have time to repaint it properly I just slapped some POR-15 on it and refitted the arm to the car so I could drive home (all my tools are at my parent's as I do not have a garage at home). As such I think that I will need to re-visit it at some point otherwise I'm afraid corrosion will set in and ruin the suspension arm in the longer term. Although I bought two bushes the other side turned out to be fine (and not welded in) so I left it for now. Doing this did reveal the need for a new ball joint on the O/S too as the boot had split on the old one. This proved surprisingly expensive from Ford but the car is running nice and smoothly again now with no knock from the front suspension.

Other than that the car has behaved itself and is now reliable. I still have to regularly replace assorted blown light bulbs so it's hardly Japanese quality but it's liveable with. On the subject of bulbs I did check the heater control panel illumination but it seems there are only two bulbs for the whole thing anyway and both were working so the crappy back-lighting is obviously a standard feature!

I still have to sort an idle issue so will have a fiddle with the TPS at some point but right now just keeping it clean is enough of a challenge. I wash it every weekend and by midweek it looks like this:

I wipe the headlights every night as they are rubbish at the best of times but frankly spring can't come soon enough!
