Hello,

I have just purchased a Puma 1.7 for track day use and I am really looking forward to having some serious fun!! My one problem is getting the Puma insured, it has been completely modified for track use, i.e. interior has been removed, new exhaust, remap etc. I have phoned CCI, who insure my other car, but they say they do not insure Pumas. I find this very odd, can anyone recommend another broker or company? I only want to drive the car to track days and back.

Thank you for your help.

Ed

Welcome
Andrian Flux have policies to cover modified cars plus they have a policy that covers driving on track days but whether they offer the latter to new customers I don't know. If you bought a copy of say Performance Ford you'd see lots of insurers who cover modified cars, then do a google to check for user comments. You'll most likely need to know the details of all modifications.

Great, thank youhappy-cat. Adrian Flux have quoted £314, which I will probably go with, even though it is more expensive than my sports car. I'm surprised how difficult it is to get insurance to drive to and from track days!

If you insure the modifications on the modified car it can be more expensive then insuring a car that's modified (something along the lines of .. in the event of ... money calculated as standard car parts only). There are other brokers that insure modified cars and even some main stream though they'll probably insure the car that's modified but not the actual modifications. I wasn't recommending Andrian Flux as such but rather giving an example of an insurance broker who does modified cars.
Do you have a circuit in mind for your track days?

Hi Happy-kat, I think I will probably go to Bedford and Snetterton mainly. I am away for a couple of months, but will be looking for track days as soon as I am back. I'm not really fussed about the modifications etc, I just want to insure the car so I can drive it on the road, I would be happy with 3rd party F&T, but it seems they only do fully comp or the difference is do small it isn't worth doing 3rd party. The car is looking great and sounds fantastic, typical that I have got to go away when the weather is so good.
