Taking The Frp On The Race Track interested in other peoples opinions on the FRP on track

I was just wondering how many others have done so and how well you felt the car coped compared to other cars, i've just taken 351 around Brands Hatch today and was around Snetterton with the same people a few months back.
They all run pretty well track modified 306 GTI-6 or Rallyes, but after a pretty heavy track session 351 pulled back into the pits having drunk no oil or loss of fluids, the brakes were not too hot and even the T1-R tyres seem good for a few more thousand miles (although blistered!), and having the ability to embarrass BMW M3's and to give the 306 guys (who tend to think they own the race track) a little run for their money (not as fast in the straight though), whereas the 306's had brake smoke, clutch smoke, alternator belt blowout etc etc...
Is it me, or is the FRP just designed to be at home on the race track? also the car really feels alive after a good session for the journey home I would really love to see an FRP in the hands of someone who really knows the limits of the car though. I was doing quite well I would like to think ( ), but the car has so much more to give (has the RPJ dampers fitted)

FRP is AWESOME on track....
it's like the ideal car to learn to drive in.....
you have a... know the track and b... be able to drive well to get the best out of it....
as you probably noticed some of the other more powerful cars there, tend to rely on out and out speed to do good times....
with the frp you have to really use the braking and handling to it's fullest to get the best out of the car....
i find at Silverstone , the track is soo big, the car feels really lost and underpowered.... but somwhere like Cadwell Park is a different story completly... great fun..

agree all of the above
focus and commitment are rewarded Brands is a fab circuit (though the full GP some what dilutes the FRP too much)
you need LSD for that setup now goes brill with the RPJ
I have not been back with my new tyres, have done two sessions with T1R on the back and P7000 on the front on the Indy, which were suprisingly good (the back stayed tight)
so frustrating when other cars just point and squirt between corners, if you don't get enough speed from the corner they hassle the buggery out of you.. Surtees is my fave go soooo fast through there love it, but still getting clearways wrong on the right speed balance, the hill takes more off than I prepare for, need more practice love it!!

Its true the car comes alive on the track, and you can really feel how much grip its got. I remember the reviews when it came out saying you can only find the true limits on the track... Its true!

"you need the LSD now" ... i dont think they sell them for £20 do they!!??
I know you have events section, but when i looked through a while back nothing sprung to my eyes, do you organise track events on here? not like Castle Combe with a few laps with the RS day, but a proper track day?
and yes I have noticed the others rely on speed and then get in the way in the corners, as I also noticed in Paddock Hill bend going down the hill in the damp the FRP is all over the place, trying to fly the back end into the gravel, you really have to show it who is the master! But the G is like a plane taking off as you go back up the hill again And yes, Surtees is good fun, I also found Graham Hill bend very fast, full throttle corner... only a little tyre squeal
I've been invited to the 'Ring with them but I dont think i'm A) ready for that yet and I love my FRP too much to put it through that and maybe put it into the barrier
it was so wet even the pits were under water...
(but not too wet for a 599, 2 x GT3 RS, Murcielago etc and 2 x RS200's to show up for the afternoon)

you want to see wet at Brands
Paddock is fab Graham Hill bend I managed to eat some grass and kerb it got greasey with a spilling of rain
there is lots to see even if you just spectate at the Ring, go as a passenger maybe?

although being fair they did have to close the track and I got a voucher for a discount off another day.
You can always pottle around the Ring do not have to drive it hard as an idea (I didn't I just enjoyed it for what it was and it was fab, but I didn't stretch it)

iv found the limits on the road!!!! in the wet, got better tyres now tho and CRUCIALLY - iv added some weight to the rear - keeps the back end under control (iv built 2 ammunition boxes onto a spare wheel tray & put my tools in it)
im planning on going to the 'ring just for fun; dont have to go nuts but i will do a decent speed. might not be next summer, prob one after that

I'm glad someone else has had the rear end trouble.
I found under heavy braking I can lift the back end off the floor and it starts to come round on me.
I end up putting opposite lock on to correct it. Not good.
I have since put my amp and sub in the boot, together with my work bag. Its much better under braking.

seriously - get a spare wheel carrier & bolt, slap an ammunition box or other secure metal box on it etc & keep all your odds & sods in it. (bolt it down!!!! or make a frame like me)
iv got water, oil, coolant, jump leads, tow rope etc in mine

I will have to have a look at your frame, if your at the "Rallyday" at castle combe next month.
My sub / amp box is made to fit and heavy. It can't move. But it seriously limits my boot space.
