Hmmm

Do you force the ISO or leave it on auto select?

generally force the ISO - I try not to use the different programme modes if I can help it as I like the feeling of having (some!) control; the one I do use regularly is the sports mode

Wonder if your camera overides the ISO settings in sports mode, my old Minolta would do that

yes - the function modes - sports, landscape, macro etc do over-ride any user input for the ISO setting

did you use such a function for your balloon pic?

Shutter priority, to ensure the flash was synced up.

QUOTE (Matt & Tiggr MKIII @ May 28 2009, 09:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Paul,

Been having a think about the saturation on the second image. Its not created the look I was after after all, so will try something else in a bit smile.gif

Thanks for the critique biggrin.gif

You're welcome. I look forward to seeing what the finished picture is like after you have had another fiddle with it smile.gif

If I get chance to this weekend (hopefully I will as I'll need some 'me' time I think after the week's events) I'll be having a bit of a play with my new bit of kit I got through this morning wink.gif biggrin.gif

edit: I just have to put up with my weedy GN42 flash sad.gif laugh.gif

Mine does, but i wanted it set to fire at a given shutter speed smile.gif

And having a lot of changes of light during the reception, I didn't want to be messing around with manual on that occasion.

lol, it's definitely enough for what I need. Don't do too much flash stuff so it's not quite so important to get a huge GN.

Just had a nice new wide angle lens through. I haven't really done anything with a proper wide angle lens yet. Until now. other than the cheapo sony kit lens which I've only used once, the widest I currently have is my 28-70 sigma. smile.gif the first results may be crap though lol smile.gif

Which one did you go for?

I've now moved to a new Zeiss 24/70. Paid for itself at the wedding, as nearly as good low light lens as the 85mm Zeiss which is now virtually totally studio based.

I managed to pick up a Tamron SP 11-18mm lens on ebay

I'll definitely share them with you. I've heard good things about the lens with regards to barrel distortion etc. especially compared with the sigma equivalent (10-20mm). When I'm up at my parents this weekend I might just take that lens so I have no excuses for not using it to try it out lol. smile.gif

Well,

Here are the results. Unfortunately the tinternet decree's that repro looks shite but the full size images are a lot better!

Lots of lessons learnt. One of which is I will never do a wedding shoot again!

Just had a quick look through and it looks like you have got some really good results there Matt, very impressed.

Funnily enough a few people have said that after doing a wedding shoot for friends/relatives laugh.gif

I think I would do some again but under the agreement that there is a chance I might cock things up in the heat of the moment laugh.gif

Dont think I will do one again. Or if I did it would be wedding itself and a bit of the breakfast. 15 hours shooting is not good for the soul!

definitely not. With my sisters it was just a short registry office ceremony and then the meal afterwards. after that I just took a few snaps with my bridge camera as that was more the feel of that part of the day. Then again they were only bothered about the ceremony and the meal.
