Ha, yeah i knew they were low... wanted to get the most out of them before splashing the cash on new ones!

Really can't wait to get the new pads in as the general opinion of the greenstuff pads is pretty rubbish!

So happy with the car now, pretty much everything i wanted to do is done and the car feels fantastic to drive now. i just never felt the brakes were that special so i'm really looking forward to getting them sorted out!

Thanks for the comments.

Tim

Great updates as ever. It's really great to see it being taken care of so well.

Those Greenstuff pads are terrible, I was expecting alot from the Alcons after reading the hype from FRP reviews and was a little dissapointed when i got the car. Before i sold the car i was trying to source some original Mintex to be fitted when i fitted the refurb'd calipers Last February - obviously never happened.

Would be great to see 406 at Castle Combe this weekend or Ford Fair, are you planning to attend?
Thanks, Jon

Hi john, i've been meaning to get hold of you regarding photos of the car when you first got it? do you have any? if so would you be able to email them over so i can add them to the history of the car...

The car is on axel stands till i get the calipers back! Which at the moment i'm not sure when that'll be, so defiantly won't be going to castle combe, and not to sure about ford fair haven't really looked into it! but if i do i will let you know!

Regards Tim

just remove the brake line please... :good:

re attach them back to the car, and use a couple of your bleed screws to cap off the end of the brake hose

Looking good... glad you like the setup... report back on the pads when you've got them nice and hot a couple of times...

ps.. i see you took me tip on fitting a couple of wheel nuts up to the disc so that the pad gap can be checked accuratly... :good: :good:

Yes i did, i think it is gonna do the job... i spoke to a independant Lotus mechanic he gave me a tube of some kind of high temp silicone and said it should do the job, if not then he'll order some higher temp stuff, i think this stuff was fit for 280C...

The caliper were in pretty good shape.... only mild scarring on the inside halfs behind the pad fittings...none on the outside halfs....

Pistons were in perfect nick..(always a bonus lol)... seals were re-usable, but maybe consider changing them next year or two...
