I came home today and thought the house was cold, so put the heating on for the first time since about May.

Please tell me others of you have done likewise.

I must admit I did have to pull the full duvet over me at 6:30 this morning as I was a bit chilly. the combination of no heating, and just the empty quilt cover over me was a bit too cool for my liking tongue.gif lol

I came downstairs yesterday morning to the rather delightful smell of burning dust! Nadine had turned the fire on cuz the living room was a bit nippy... Granted she had an excuse of a 9 month old terrorising the joint in his pj's smile.gif

Put a jumper on Ben. You are less likely to end up with a cold if you leave the heating off. Nud has an excuse, the "terrorist" is yet capable of making decisions re telling his mam he's cold wink.gif

I would say though that its a good time to give the boiler a pre season fire up, check all the radiators for air locks and even get the boiler serviced, now before the really cold weather kicks in and you find you, along with everyone else has a problem and only one plumber in your town wink.gif

the heating in my place rarely goes on in the winter time, and that's mainly when i have guests over. Normally if it's just me I prefer to snuggle up with a duvet or sleeping bag instead lol.

Can't see the point of heating a whole house when I am only in one room at a time. Call it cheap, or lazy (can't be bothered going round turning radiators on and off toheat single rooms, but I could argue i'm doing my bit to reduce my carbon footprint biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I was expecting my annual check to be done by British Gas (as part of the Three Star Service Contract I pay through the nose for) in August. The day came and went and I found the appointment had not been booked in properly, so unfortunately I am not getting my visit until November. At least my radiators are coming on and if the worst comes to the worst I have breakdown cover!

no heating on here.
Got a jumper on and put the throw over the bed last week.
heating is unnecessary untill you have put all your jumpers on and are still cold.

it was only 13 degrees Celcius when I turned my heating on - does this mean I am going soft?

mmmm maybe!!! laugh.gif just be brave and walk round in short sleeves and youll get used to it and redress your tolerances!! or get hypothermia!

We dont get heating on till 1st oct regardless of weather, then off 1st april again regardless of weather. Caused much annoyance in faslane when some years its still heavily snow covered on the hills that time.

I get over the cold by doing some "exercise" at night. quite effective I must say.

My heating is on all year round. My winter coat and gloves get put off in July and are back on again at the end of August.
