Hi

I love my Puma had it six years but in this period have never had it serviced. It has 25,259 on the clock and has had a new set of spark plugs, leads and ignition coil this year because running sluggish this is why they changed them, didn't sort problem. Then fuel filter and now needs fuel pump which I was quoted £400 as its a Ford part. Instead I have it booked into different garage they will charge £197 and it will be a cheaper pump. As I am not great on cars wanted to know if a cheaper pump will be ok as I am taking it tomorrow.

As I said love the car but don't know a mechanic that would do a Wheeler Dealer on it (which I'd love to happen) and not rip me off. This is why I am thinking of selling the car now as it may start being costly because I never looked after it i.e. service. I have been quoted for a full service £160 on top of new pump. In your opinion should I sell my lovely car.

I am pretty sure most Puma owners would say keep, especially at this mileage, a ford motorcraft service may be around 145.
Cheers
Matt

Thanks, I will ring them today. I had an offer of £900 from a garage that will sell it on, he has only seen pictures at the moment. I need to have a long think about it.

Your Puma is also over due a cam belt change, for the 1.7 it is every 5 years or 80k miles which ever occurs first.
That's lovely low milage.
You've never had an oil change in 6 years, gosh, but I guess you have been checking the oil level though.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Hi Thanks for your advice. I have had Can Belt in 2011.Then 2014 had Fitted OSR Shock Absorber supply and fit NSF Anti Roll Stab Link, clean rear brake pipe. Anti roll stabiliser link NSF and Rear KYB Shock Absorber OS. Battery 2016. Last mot Nov renewed the front left stabiliser link. And then obviously the rest this year
new pump, filter and plugs etc. It's only really started costing me now. I have it in for Service Oil,Filters on Thurs £70 quoted. Can you advise what he should definitely he should cover for this Service with it being it's first since 2011. I did get Oil levels checked. Also, do garages put cheaper Oil in when servicing and should I make sure what he's putting in?
