Hi there
Wonder if anyone had any thoughts on the following:
My Puma (R Plate) has developed a noise that sounds like its coming from the back driver side of the car.
To describe: Its a whirring noise that appears to be in line with acceleration/deceleration going up and down as I go faster or slower.
It is loud enough to hear above the engine sound (which ticks over as smoothly as it ever did).
At first I thought it may be the exhaust but now not so sure. Bearing perhaps?
Just don't know enough about these things so thought I would ask on here.
Thanks in advance of any advice

Not sure is its only happening when I'm moving but it sounds like the back of the car.
Temperature doesn't rise in any way.

may be you have a stone caught in the calliper, or a stick or something in the wheel catching as you drive.

wheel bearing maybe.

trip to local friendly mechanic smile.gif
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Fuelpump should be constant in pitch.
Waterpump should follow the engine revs, and come from the front wink.gif

My guess is on a wheel bearing, or at least anything in the vicinity of the wheels. Check for carpets that came loose, or anything that is rubbing the tyre or alloy.

alternator could of packed up - get a multimeter on the battery to check what the voltage is reading when the car isn't running and also when it is.

The battery should be 12.something not running and about 14.something when running. Any higher or a lot higher mean alternator is either on it's way out or dead OR water level in battery needs topping up
