Hi all,

After reading a post a while ago from jacko with regards to the quality of front splitters from PB (poor was an understatement if i read it correctly) i have just found a person on ebay who makes carbon/fibre glass parts based in the uk
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123

and from the pictures they look pretty good.
Ive asked him if he can do FRP front splitters, and the answer was yes biggrin.gif
but obviously a group buy would be more cost effective for him due to moudling costs etc etc etc

Ive asked him some further questions about general costs/time scale and numbers needed and waiting on reply, so any one interested in a new front splitter???

and i have obviously asked for carbon fibre not fibre glass cool.gif

Ive asked him if he needs a splitter to use as a templete, so we shall see...

the FRP splitter is exactly how it should be, it is a hand made prototype template that made our genuine finished article
Mass produced is symetrical but where is the history in that tongue.gif

My understanding that FRP spitter stock has not run out yet

I'd be interested depending on the price...
S*** LRX, usually belting between Dover and Maidstone by any means except the M20

Weitec GT Coilovers, Powerflex bushes, Milltek full FRP exhaust, 280mm front brakes
Low slung, taught, powerful and stops on a dime.

I believe that is correct but as stated, i thought jacko was given or received one from pb which had wrong holes or something.

and if we can get it for less than £150 (pb price) then its all good biggrin.gif

eh? i dont understand your grammer, sorry happy cat, are you agreeing that the FRP splitter isn't symetrical? or are you saying it is because its mass produced? huh.gif if i get a carbon one i would like it too look symetrical because FRP splitters all look like they havn't been fitted right because the leading edge on one side sticks out further that the other side, dont get me wrong a would rather have something that is crafted by hand than made on computer, but you would at least think that the people at ford could make a symetrical splitter for a limited production car, dont you agree?

Actually no, I don't agree, the history behind making that splitter makes it all the more unique to a unique car.
If I wanted symetrics I would have bought a factory produced car and got everything the same, oh yeh and be the same as all the others wink.gif

I am quite happy with it being 'odd' if you like, it was not computer generated in a sterile office... but in a workshop at Boreham by real hands on engineers

I could be interested in this for my 1.7, depending on price. I see he has some Escort Cosworth splitters for sale around the £100 mark, so if the price is around that I may just go for it.

Would they come without any preset holes cause the holes required would be different for the 1.7 compared to the FRP?

i totaly agree, hand made is better it more satisfying knowing its been crafted not just stamped out of a machine, but that only really stands if the craftmanship is of a quality that speaks for its self, if you cant make something symetrical that should be then its more of bodge than a well crafted part, not forgetting that the puma itsself was the first production car that ford made that was designed and produced on computers and machines rather than by hand

Maybe I'm having a senior moment huh.gif

Will this be an exact copy of the standard FRP splitter?
But in Carbon fibre, not carbon fibre look alike which the car had from the factory wink.gif

So its not original?
The weight saving will be minuscule I would think, no better down force as its a copy and the same.

I know Ed has a proper Carbon Fibre one on his car, but its a Ford development item I believe. unsure.gif

Just before I add my name to the list cool.gif
Why ?? unsure.gif

Spares??

PB want £150 and I have just emailed my local Ford dealer who does bits for me, to find the price wink.gif

I'd be interested in one as mine is slightly scuffed due to a steep slope exiting a car park back when i first got my car.

If however they are still available from Ford as an original part i may as well buy that. Depends on the price and quality of the reproduction.
Thanks, Jon

The one currently fitted to my FRP is the the original carbon fibre splitter made for the ST160. It is not as deep, but is a little wider. It was not productionised due to cost issues, hence the plastic splitter used on the production cars.

Again as stated i thought i had read on a few posts that the one from pb was not a very good example.

also didnt realise that the orignal ones were not real carbon fibre, so could be even better cool.gif .

My main reasons are
If i can get it cheaper than standard and its better than standard, then surely its good.
real carbon fibre w00t.gif
mine is slightly cracked and second hand ones go for silly money on ebay

and pb have recently pi**ed me off with delayed orders(4 weeks and still didnt get it), wrong parts (sent me pre 2000 spark leads and after 2000 coil pack so didnt match, school boy error or what) and even me having to chase up a refund 2 weeks after i was told i would get it.

still waiting on reply to my main questions on costs so once i have that, we can see if its viable.....
