Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and don't have much experience with Puma so I would really appreciate it if you can give some guidance.
The project that I'm currently doing is not really a Puma but it would use Puma parts.
Anyway, I'm doing a hillclimb fiesta mk1 car and I want to compete in -1600 class. Now I need to purchase another engine and I'm bit confused what engine to take. 1.6 or 1.7 puma (and destroke it). Is 1.7 really a better option? I know it was used in s1600 Puma rally car but I'm worried if I'm going to have problems with VCT.

Also, does anyone now where I can get a hold of racing camshafts. I'm looking for max race spec.

Hope to hear from you soon, thanks....

The S1600 used the 1.6 engine.
The 1.6 has more off the shelf modification options. There is no vct on the 1.6. The original Puma Cup series (Germany) used the 1.6 engine. The current UK Puma Cup series is using the 1.7 with a set list of modification parts.
Does the mk1 Fiesta have a suitable engine bay, why not use a mk4?
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale
