I think the problem comes when you try and adjust letters and numbers to mean something else, I've seen a number three reversed to look like an E and I've seen a few people position the black bolt that holds the number plate on to make it look like another letter or number!!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you get?

Mine are secured by Velcro so it can be easily changed when needed wink.gif

worst case of playing with you spacing (apart fom being illegal) is you could loose the right to your reg from DVLA by then withdrawing it becuase you were caught with silly spacing.
Also says to other car drivers, watch up baseball cap about wink.gif
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Whilst that is true, I'd be surprised if the DVLA enforce it much (if at all!)

I've got a private registration plate, but legally spaced as the last 3 letters are my initials. However, the plates are technically illegal as I had a honeycomb effect applied to both front and rear. The front plate was also custom made for me with the instructions "as small as legally possible" so its only 101mm x 338mm smile.gif

Just hope no one notices MOT time as it took me ages to fit with sticky pads and I'm not looking forward to taking them off!

Think it also depends on what the local police force wants to focus on... at the end of the day you can clearly read my plate and the letters/numbers have not been tampered with.

Very much the same with my Civic which it's windows are completely blacked out, ok I know it's illegal but I've never been stopped for it despite having ample occasions to do so.

I have private plate too. It is a letter, birthday and my initials.

I keep meaning to cut the ends of the plate off so it is even shorter!

Some people do get away with moving letters over to spell a word, you just have to mind where you drive!

at the end of the day it's personal choice, personally I wouldn't bother with a plate that needs squinting at and thinking about for 10 minutes before it becomes obvious what it is meant to read.
Nor would I have one that needs spacing illegally as its hard enough driving on the roads today avoiding all the other hazards without sweating everytime you see a police car wondering if they are bored enough to pull you over and do you for illegal plates.
Mine is my initial and birthday and the rest is car related, but I bought mine cos it makes me grin and I couldn't give a toss if anyone knows what it means smile.gif
