Anyone know where I can get a Racing Catalist for my 1.7 Puma?
I've checked with lots of tuning-companies, such as Richter/Ford Motorsport, but I've come up with nothing so far.
It seems the exhaust manifold and the catalist are one part, or are they actually screwed together?
What would be the consequence for the Lambda-sensor? Wouldn't it notice the change in exhaust gases and setup the ECU to run on emergency program?
Any answer on these questions would be a big help

Lee ran a de-cated Puma for quite some time (before it got petrol bombed) and IIRC it made quite a bit of difference. Dont remember it being that much of a battle to sort out the ECU
That said of course, it is an illegal mod...

The standard Puma has a cast manifold with the cat sitting on the downpipe, the FRP has a tubular manifold with a racing cat mounted under the floor.
It should be possible to either de-cat the system (easy) or relocate the cat under floor as with the FRP- you will need to fabricate a new exhaust from the manifold back and extend the wiring to the HEGO (lambda) sensor to maintain the full legal emmissions control systems.
I believe racing cats (made with metal rather than ceramics) are available from Janspeed- choose according to the power output of your car.

Free flow cats are available from quite a few sources - be careful, a lot of "motorsport cats" look just like standard cats but have nothing on the inside and are used for motorsports where you have to have a cat fitted - scrutineers can see the cat but not whats in it...
As for removing the cat from the standard Puma - it isn't so easy - you have to remove the drivers side driveshaft - not a five minute job...
btw the standard cat also weighs in at 7 Kgs...
