Has any body fitted a Magnex back box only on their puma, if so did it make much difference with the noise using the rest of the standard exhaust system?

Not fitted one personally, but I'm sure I read on here some where that peeps who had fitted the entire magnex system found it not too noisy at all - just a low burbble at low revs and a bit meattier as she goes up through the revs! tongue.gif

I've got a magnex system on my MR2 and I must say it only really gets noisy from 4500 to 8000 revs  But then my engine and exhaust (manifold) is about 12 inches away from the back of my head!

Just one point though - its pretty big and ugly see the album section, then Puma modifications and you'll see the back end of a green/black Puma, approaching a round about, with the Magnex back box on. The pic was posted by Lisafrp and is entitled "magnex exhaust".

To say its large is an understatement! :eyes:

They do do back boxes only but seemingly only a limited range and not for a Puma (well at least that's how it looks from Demon tweeks magazine!)

Your not thinking of buying the one for sale on ebay are you?

Just watch out cos it says that you need a downsizing pipe.

I have no idea? If there are any metal works around where you live then I imagine they could weld u one up for about a tenner?

The one on ebay is the exact one in the picture above on the black puma, so I wouldn't have it if I were you , it looks hideous, why do you think it was only on the car 2 weeks!!! :?

Yup - that's one ugly back box!

Rstlf - have you considered powerflow? They generally do entire custom stainless systems, but may do just back boxes.

See the link below to find your nearest dealer. They're pretty competitively priced too - being generally cheaper than an un-fitted magnex/mongoose, and powerflow fit the exhaust as part of the cost!

If you want some decent sounds from your exhaust then go for a full system including removal of the big heavy cat and get them to put a straight through motorsport cat instead, you will get improved performance, pops and crackles like a FRP and it'll still be ok for emissions.

Not sure how much it would be, but just my back box was £140ish pounds (using my original tail pipe). See here for a pic of my Powerflow back box:
