Ryan you dont even need to do that. Just make sure its all running right and brakes work etc. Then off you go.

The stripping etc is just for going quicker and such and to mod the car.

Best thing to do would be to get some instruction, they will improve your driving and lap times more than any modifcations will!

buy dta or omex or something and drop a fiesta st150 engine straight in, I'm pretty sure you can just swap gearbox bell housings cos there the same box, so you can just prefabricate the top engine mount and your away....few little bits to do....but car would fly then, get loads more for your money with that engine. I've spent far too much on 1.7 to find it's very hard to get more power...not cheap either. St150 bits are off the shelf.

Im going down the 2.0 black top route I think. Not to sure yet. Im just tb'ing the 1.7 and getting engine management. Other than exhaust system it wont have much done engine wise.

Ordered more stickers now too, and some weight saving number plates.

Uve all got me swaying towards bigger engine now,the st150 is looking goid,am guessing u can get more from that engibe with some mods as well?? Ideally I'd like to get some were nearc 160bhp ish in my puma stripped down to about 900kg ish...rekon that wud b a lot of fun lol

Reech...do I need to keep my car taxed and mot if I just track it? What about insurance? And racing in competitions(when I'm good enough) lol

Focus i think they are in, Not looked into it properly yet as it will be a long way off.

If you are going to trailer it to tracks and things then no tax isnt needed, neither is mot. Mot will help if the track decides to check it over, just shows them its safe. Never heard of them doing it for track days though.
Insurance you'll need if you want to drive it to the track. Otherwise doesnt need to be insured. You can get track insurance but I have never bothered.

Racing comps you'll need to see specific regulations. Combe championship is a good one but a bit far for you. Not sure what else the puma can enter. Im looking to going racing next year, but just for fun rather than trying to win.

Hi reechard, 2.0 black top is a cracking engine mate. very strong and reliable in standard form.
i used one for track days for years. the sump is VERY easily modified to stop the dreaded oil surge.
mine ran on webber 45,s and a big four branch manifold=160ish bhp and very torguey. id be more than happy
to help with any querys i.e modifing the sump etc.
there not to heavy either bearing in mind the block is cast iron, 98 onward mondeo's ran them as well as focus's.

Go Sprinting Richard.
I played with a 106 at Keevil a couple of months ago, I was MUCH quicker under braking and around the corners.
He came second in class at the next sprint
Up to 1800 cc He was in the same class as I would be.
"Steel" on TT.
Come along to Combe in the 15th and watch a sprint. ;)
