Update time...

Sound deadening officialy gone Posted Image Was much easier than i thought until my heat gun packed in (Her hair dryer oops) Posted Image

Posted ImagePosted Image
Posted ImagePosted Image
Posted ImagePosted Image
Posted ImagePosted Image

Needed to keep myself busy while i wait for the new brakes so i couldnt resist a bit more spraying. Posted Image
Brand new rear drums picked up of Ebay

Posted ImagePosted Image

Posted ImagePosted Image

Also fitted the scooby seat and love it, a set of 4 points to follow, had fun with the mountings but got there in the end.

Posted ImagePosted Image

So after coming to terms with my cylinder head going pop i was
toying with the idea of doing it myself Posted Image
but in the end i decided against it and the puma was sent away to a friend who has done a great job.

The head got reskimmed and dipped
new aux belt
new timing belt
new water pump, tensioner etc
full gasket set fitted

and now she is timed up spot on it sounds like she is new out of the box Posted Image
what a difference, so thats the ballache job out the way and a big tick in the box for piece of mind on the track.
Now back to the fun stuff, time to really hit the diet as i have spotted lots more things to cut out and strip.

I decided to continue with some more weight reduction

Boot lid off

Went to Bradford and picked up a Miltec 4-2-1 manifold, decat race tube, front upper strut brace, momo champion steering wheel and boss for £140 Posted Image Posted Image

Work on the car seemed to have slowed down in the run up to christmas
Plenty of parts bought but no time to fit them, but this will change as i want the car ready for April 12.

Wow! :D
Some members have found that if there is no heat shield fitted over the manifold the base of the steering shroud will melt, and going on track might make that more of a potential.
Yours looks like it has the bose fitments on it to fit a Puma manifold heat shield. It weighs very little too :)

Interested in bonnet its if GRP...

also does the boot lid still seal on the rubber seal now ? We find a huge amount of crap / oil / dist on our tailgate after a race...

Bonnet lifters - after you have lifted then rear edge of the bonnet, sellotape some wool tufts on the rear trailing edge of the bonnet and go for a drive at various speeds - see if the tufts of wool go up or down.

Steering column shroud - the one in the pic is still in quite good condition - ours has melted quite a bit and is now held in pace with sticky aluminium tape which also reflects some of the heat.

That's my steering rack gator on the Frp Toby, put heat tape around it and fitted the field about a year ago but I've got a new one to put on just need to work out how it comes off and how hard it is too do.

So it will probably just stay as it is ;-).

Might check mine, I didn't re-fit the shield when I changed my manifold.

Yea the boot lid still seals mate in just going to mesh out the inside of the 3rd brake light to pull a but of airflow through the car sort of a flue effect.

So just put the heat tape round the gator guys ?

mmm are you sure, on mine you can see where the rubber strip on the body sits up against the part of the tailgate you have chopped away. Have you checked it is still weatherproof with a hosepipe ? There is nothing worse than driving on track with a floor pan of water sloshing around ;)

You'll find the air and all the muck will be pulled into the car, not what you want. IMHO blank it off entirely.

Loving that track, look at those Puma suited bends :D
Though on a car track day do you just use the outer track?

With the straighter bits not being very long that looks like the Puma will be well suited as your cornering should be awsome, light and nimble.
