well they said they would be delivering today... but they arrived 2 days ago! So that can't be too bad... a day longer than I expected when I ordered, but 2 days before they said!
I haven't paid for fitting yet... but I'm expecting to pay £6 a wheel. Going back for Alignment to be done tomorrow, will prolly have to pay then.... ho hum - it's only money....

What's the BEST tyre, cost is not a concern?
BTW I mean for grip, I will be happy for the fronts to last 5000 miles.

Try some Yokohama A032R's, awesome grip in the dry and average in the wet - however I doubt they will last 5000  also might be tad expensive...
Being serious there is no such thing as a best tyre - thats the reason why rally / racing teams take so many different sorts of tyres to an event - so they can choose which tyre is best for the current conditions - no compromises. For road use you have to compromise on road noise / wet or dry weather performance / durability / price etc, etc...

Not quite next day delivery, but three working days isn't bad.
Will be great to have new tyres on the front, been driving with slicks for the past month or so, great for understeer though

What would you reccomend at up to £150 a corner with a hard used life of >5000 miles?
It has some Eagle touring things on at the moment and slides a little too easily, progressive and not in an unexpected manner but DEFFO' too early!

postings from yahoo, but in summary 2 good tyres that are in the market now, are the: BRIDGESTONE SO3 POLE POSITION POTENZA and MICHELIN EXALTO.
Puma drivers that they fit them after some miles had great comments,
and how much they upgrade the handling of our Coupe.
About GOODYEAR EAGLE TOURING,
The production of GOODYEAR EAGLE TOURING NCT3 is stopped but it has
been replaced by GOODYEAR EAGLE TOURING NCT5. It is the
replace/evolution model lets say. I dont know if they had cancel the NCT5 too in our times as we speak....
When I bought the car I had NCT3 and some
years later I replace the 2 fronts with NCT5. Surely the NCT5 is
better than the old model.
Now I had fitted 6 months, the BRIDGESTONE SO3 POLE POSITION POTENZA .... why can I say ? .... there is no comparison at all... You may say that I drive a different car ....
My suggestion is to buy 4 of these for your cat.
I hope that all these might help you to decide.
Cheers

Anyone tried these?

I can vouch for that and I've only changed the front two at the moment. The rears will be changed near to my MOT in June.
I can't recommend mytyres.net highly enough. Toyos came in at £29.80 each and I managed to get both fitted for £10 cash in hand at a local tyre dealer

Even though you are paying so much more at kwikfit, you do get bonuses like rim damage and improper balancing thrown in free of charge
What did your research tell you...I know kwikfit are last on my list of tyre fitters.

Will probably look into getting the front wheels refurbished at some stage, especially as my mileage should plummet shortly, hopefully it shouldn't be to expensive... :?

Looks like I was lucky this time - no rim damage to my F1 alloys and I wouldn't notice balancing problems (even if I crashed) - I'm not that hardcore a driver...
Just for the record - Ford dealer I took my Puma to managed to trash my alloys, trim and bodywork (all for free) when I took the car in for a warranty repair - took me 6 months and Ford customer services intervention for them to acknowledge and repair the damage they did - they ended up replacing the entire dashboard.
From my own experience - they are ALL crap....I just want to get my Puma through all of them, use the car for a resonable length of time, somehow mantain it's residual value and sell the thing when I can afford a high end car...

You'll know if the balancing is out as soon as you drive at about 60+ mph, you will get vibration through the steering wheel.
