When replacing two tyres....

Should I buy the same tyres as the old ones?

When I changed to snow tires last fall, I noticed that the walls of the of my tyres where damaged. Soon I'll change back to the real tyres again, and I am wondering if I will notice a lot of difference if I buy two different new tyres.

The old tyres are Goodyears, which I am completely happy with, by the way.

You might want to PM Xmats. He's had more experience of Scandinavian conditions than most.

Not sure how your tyre walls were damaged... were you driving up kerbs??!!

If you are replacing two tyres, keep the best two and put on rear, and new two on front. Don't put new tyres on one side and old on another. See the threads on tyre choice elsewhere on the forum, they're quit comprehencive.

I'm in the process of getting some toyo proxes t1-s on mine, my two rear tyres ned replacing.

I thought the new tyres should go on the front, but this is not the case.

Its been proven that new tyres should go at the rear to provide more stability and better handling!

something to bear in mind....

Im not sure how I damaged the tyres myself, and it was one tire on either side. I dont make a habit of bumping into things with my car. It might even have been the previous owner, as I bought the car used last summer.

By the way: The weather here in the south west of Norway would probably feel more familiar to someone from, say Newcastle, than someone from the north pole.
