Hi,

I have been out in my FRP 4 times in the last week, on three of these occasions when I first set off, there was
a noticeable hesitation / lack of power / missing , when I first set off, after a few minutes the car settled down and was fine for the rest of the journey and accelerated perfectly and drove
Brilliantly.

The car started perfectly on all 4 runs and on one of my runs there was NO hesitation at all ? but on the other three runs when I first set off there was a distinct
hesitation?

I fitted 4 new motor craft spark plugs a few weeks ago so the plugs are new, I fitted the previous motorcarft spark plugs about 9,000 miles ago without any problems.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem with there FRP?

I've had this car just over 2 years, it has not done this before, I wonder if it is worth changing the plug leads for new motor craft ones - does anyone
know if the standard 1.7 puma uses the same motor craft plug leads ? (I changed the leads on my standard 1.7 Puma recently so I have the correct part Numbers for these)

Roger.

I was going to ask did you fit new leads at the same time.
I have Magnecor on mine and these can be re used they give a good seat each time.

Same spark plugs and same coil pack same as standard just make sure you get the right type for the Puma age. The wrong type have the the wrong ears/hats on the leads.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Sticky piston rings would give you those symptoms.

I'd be tempted to do a compression test when its apparent.

Mines not been used much in the last month, since I got Scrappy sorted with FRP suspension and big brakes.
Battery was flat and it needed charging.
I noticed going over to castle Combe, it was missing very slightly when just on throttle and didn't have its usual urgency.
On the way home, it suddenly cleared, smooth and the slightest throttle and it was off :)

I presumed the ECU had reset as the battery was dead flat ( I had left my video recoding mirror on ) and the ECU had reset to default ?
Took about 10 miles to sort itself out.

HEGO sensor?

Could be worth carrying out a diagnostic check.

Hi,
I've cleaned the maf - and the car hasn't shown any hesitation symptoms since I cleaned the maf - I don't know if this is just coincidence or not ?

I read somewhere on the internet if your car is using a K&N panel filter (mine is) there is a possibility that a light coating of oil from the air filter could
get onto the two wires in the maf ? so I gave them a clean (they didn't look too dirty).
