Two weeks ago gave the car a good going over, was, polish and wax and window clean etc. Just got myself some scratch x to use, will i need to remove the wax or polish before using? If so what with? Read somewhere about the paint cleaner reducing swirls is this true? Have got the mitten and micro-fiber cloths as well. Just to give you a list of products i have, can someone tell me if i could be using anything else please:
  • Tutrle wax premium car shampoo
  • Megs stage 2 - polish
  • Megs NXT tech wax
  • Megs window cleaner
  • Megs speed detailer (jsut to keep the kat clean when its dusty)
  • Scratch x
Also how often should i wax and polish, heard a polish should be about twice a year, cant find the post but sure i read it somewhere.
Thank you

I applied some scratch X to the paintwork without removing the polish/wax 1st & the scratch came out a treat. Just repolished & waxed the area after.

Polishing/Waxing:

Polishing the car enables the clensing of the paintwork and get the paintwork as smooth as possible in order to apply the wax. It's the wax that offers the protection.

Personally I have polished mine with Mer polish and waxed the car with Meguiairs ultimate clear coat wax.

I polish and wax twice per year, but in between this I top up the wax once every 2-3 months to keep up the shine & maximum beading.

I would go for the meg's step 1- paint cleaner as a start.

Either that or a clay bar, as they will help level the paint and take out most of the imperfections before you polish and wax....

The meg's 3 step is probably the easiest cleaning product to use, and gives brilliant results.

(if you go for the paint cleaner, it might be an idea to get a rotary polisher and save on the elbow grease)
