Went to my first hill climb yesterday with a friend at Gurston Down near Salisbury.
Mike Manning with his Ex Rallycross Cosworth Puma was there competing :woot2:/>

Metro 6R4 looked good, but the front was wrong I think, looked Rover 100 like.

Smashing Mk2 went through the corners lifting a front wheel, proper old school :)/>

Loads of single seaters running Motor bike engine, one had the same engine I'm fitting in the Stiletto.

Not sure it would be for me to compete in.
A couple of practice runs in the morning then two timed runs during the day.
I make that about 4 miles flat out and entry was £210 :huh:/>
Think I will stick to trackdays or maybe a autotest.

Entry fee was £110 - not £210.

I was chatting to a single seater driver and he was telling me costs.
He did say there were two events a month, so maybe thats where the £200 odd came from.

Still a bit pricey for the distance driven ;)/>

On the surface entry fees appear to be steep when compared to a track day - but factor in the competitive element and you also need to compare costs such as fuel, brakes, tyres etc. Even a set of "super soft" trackday tyres will last several seasons sprinting / hill climbing.

Its not so hard to destroy £500 worth of track day tyres on a single open pit lane track day, £50+ fuel and a set of pads £50+.

The fact that NOS is banned for MSA sprints / hillclimbs might put you off though ;)

That picture of a 6R4 is actually that of a DAM 4100. Dave Appleby Motorsport basically redesigned the 6R4. see http://www.wetheterr...com/pr7-7aq-18/

David Appleby, I know him a Aston Martin man.
His mechanic got a job fixing fork trucks of all things where I work.
That was when David relocated to the West country.
A few years ago now.
from his web site, he's back now.

I don't think any amount of NOS would make up for stripping out the interior etc and ruining the car.

Might have a play with the Stiletto at somepoint. That should be under 600kg so pretty lively with the bike engine :)
